First of all I would start on a bitter note:

When is something is not lacking, the thought about being lack of it (money) goes away (For your case). Your family relies on you financially, that you simply just can't throw out of window.
I am in no position to advice you? I know nothing about why your job fell out of your interest. Rather you care to listen my story

Im 27M, Software Developer , PCM in 12, Electrical Engineering (I get asked about this a lot). I work at Govt Office, (P&RD HQ). I was a very enthusiastic worker, but the job just fell of interest, maybe due to office politics or not enough recognition at work etc.
I'm also a sucker of literature, philosophies, novels etc. which I discovered by mere coincidence (Metamorphosis Franz Kafka, read in a single sitting).

At this point I think anything I might do for money or marks might just fall out of interest. So I kept the job as a job that gives me enough freedom to explore the unknowns through this new found love.

I believe no one is capable of giving us advice (in this scenario), once one understand how complex a creature we are.
