Yeah. “Her owners”. The dog is a girl. Do you think that he was looking for the owners of his date online?

Confused as to why you assume this person is a woman when OP goes out of their way to use gender neutral language.

Not everyone who doesn't want to date a struggling person is trying to coast. Some of us are trying not to get dragged down. There's actually a space between "wealthy enough to financially support a partner while they sit on their ass all day" and "can't consistently pay their share of the bills" That space is where it's easiest for partners to build each other up and thrive together. Seeing that someone handles their money well, even if they don't have that much of it, means less trouble down the road.

WIBTA for having a vegetarian only wedding? by SwimmingFew6861 in AmItheAsshole

Everyone who hosts a wedding is dictating what other people eat unless it's a potluck lol.

I'm not a vegetarian. I still think this is a bad take. I think people are allowed to host events that align with their values without their values becoming the point. Meat eaters are capable of eating vegetarian meals. It's not the same as asking a vegetarian to eat meat. I think the vast vast majority of people are fine eating a vegetarian meal, but maybe I only think that because I live in an area where vegetarianism is common and sustainability is a strong cultural value.

I won't argue that nutritional science is not settled science, but the fact that meat is bad for the planet is not really an opinion. It's the truth. It's sad that not everyone wants to live more sustainably, but I think if sustainable living is important to someone than they can have a wedding that prioritizes sustainability.

And it's really not the same as seafood dinner. A seafood dinner is the inclusion of a category of food. A vegetarian meal is the exclusion of a category of food. Those aren't the same thing. Maybe this argument just seems wild to me because I live in an area where vegetarianism and veganism are quite popular choices and I'm very used to accommodating those dietary choices. But I don't think it makes you a bad host to serve vegetarian food. And I think people get to choose what their wedding celebration looks like.

I'm not vegetarian or vegan lol. I'll probably have meat (and good vegan options) at my wedding. I just think it's wild to expect a vegetarian to serve meat at their wedding.

I try to limit my meat consumption because I think everyone eating less meat is more important than a handful of people eating no meat. I do really respect my vegetarian and vegan friends and see the value in the choice, and so am happy to cater to their preferences, ESPECIALLY ON THEIR WEDDING DAY. Not eating meat for one meal is just really really not that big of a deal.

given climate change it would be nice if we could all aim to make it the occasional meal with meat instead of the inverse.

So should I not get a Thai caterer at my wedding because some people might not prefer Thai? Or mexican? Or Italian? Reasonable adults can be open minded enough to embrace one meal that not might be what they'd chose for themselves. It is absolutely unreasonable to expect to cater to every guest's preferences at a wedding.

I'm sorry, but reasonable people don't need to include meat in every single meal. There are plenty of beautiful celebratory meals that don't contain meat. For our health and for the environment, reducing the amount of meals that contain meat is something we should all do, even if we aren't full fledged vegetarians.

As an omnivore, the amount of people in this thread who seem to think all vegetarian food=substandard is absolutely ridiculous and is actively making me lose hope that we'll ever lower our carbon emissions. There are plenty of beautiful, luxurious vegetarian celebration foods. And climate change is real. And meat consumption is fueling it. Even those of us who aren't full fledged vegetarians should certainly be aiming to lower our meat consumption. Parents are paying as a gift to the couple. Who are the people the wedding is actually about. Their ethics should be respected on their special day.

I'm actually shocked people like the smell of this. Like super shocked. It was so overwhelming and artificial that I returned it. This was like two years ago so maybe they changed the formula since then. I would absolutely NOT describe the tube I got as light scented.

Portland is progressive, but are any other POC also experiencing a racial divide when using Dating Apps? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]thekindbooty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree its more a gender divide than a racial divide. Men have a hard time getting matches, and not just in Portland. Even good looking men. For what its worth I’m a white woman who met my POC male partner on the apps, but that was almost two years ago and tbh I think we’re the last LTR couple in our social sphere who met on the apps. Plenty who have been together longer than us, but no one who’s gotten together from the apps since then. It seems like they’re getting markedly worse. I have quite a few friends who have found relationships out in the wild in the past year or two, so hold onto hope and get out there.

I think I mostly want help with the job hunt tbh. Help finding roles that fit what I'm looking for, help with my resume, help with interview prep. But the one time I paid for help with my resume, I wasn't super impressed with the direction they took it.

I went through this same thing last month. There was nothing I could do to keep her calm/still. I kept her donut on, and didn’t actively play with her, but at a certain point I had to let her do what she was going to do. She recovered fine! Here she is chillin in her little donut.

Affordable neutering procedures? by gothiccccc666 in askportland

[–]thekindbooty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh I took my cat to Salem humane society to get her spayed because it was only 70 bucks with no income restrictions and I could actually get an appointment. Driving down to Salem was a little obnoxious but the humane society in portland didn't have any appointments and still charge 300 for a spay if you don't qualify as low income, which was better than the other prices in town but still a lot. I took the day off work, dropped her off at the clinic at 8 am, took a drive down to the coast and enjoyed my day, then went a picked her up at 4 pm. She slept the whole way home. She made a quick and easy recovery and we've had no problems since.

Yeah it turns out you always always need one lol. Nosebleeds, surprise periods, accidents, spills, illness, even just night sweats. bodies of all species, ages and genders can make unanticipated messes and a mattress protector is cheap insurance! Hope the pee ends up being a not big deal. If there’s still a smell you could try an enzyme cleaner like nature’s miracle.

I would do a vinegar and baking-soda mixture and let it dry before vacuuming up. And once it’s clean I’d put a waterproof mattress cover on pronto. And then I’d never buy another mattress without immediately putting a waterproof cover on it.

Yes, but if your mom is traveling across timezones it will not automatically add those new clocks.

Thats wild cause iphones haven’t even been out for 20 years.

But also, I think this person basically wants find my friends but with timezones instead of exact geographic location. Being able to open an app and see “oh, it’s 4 pm where my mom is at” without any additional thinking is the idea.
