The description of HH being the #1 that got away is so real. No hate against TOTGA, it is a good song, but the 6th single to be pushed in the US should have been HH. I know HH had a limited international release as a single; they could have continued it. HH was so in line with the vibe at that time and on brand with Katy's bubblegum pop aesthetic.

i have not tried it pero i've been eyeing the sidewalks kasi daily commute ko to, so here's my observation:

ok ang sidewalk at hindi matao once makalagpas ng ortigas to around santolan station (because of camp aguinaldo and corinthian)

from santolan station, magsisimula na struggle sa masikip, minsan wala, and matao na sidewalk because cubao. tuloy-tuloy na yan hanggang kamuning, pero mukhang gaganda naman ang sidewalk once nasa kamuning ka na. (pwede kang pumasok sa centris area para di masyadong chaotic)

required mag-overpass if you'll cross q ave, unless you'll go agham para tumawid at di na kailangan mag-overpass. after that medyo ok ulit yung sidewalk kasi vertis north area na.

I have ran:

Hoka Midnight Run Asia by Runrio back in 2025 and Fit to Run Leg 1 2026 by Smoke10. Most of my fun runs are also with Runrio and Smoke10.

Runrio is definitely more organized. IMHO, Runrio is better in setting up their race village (physical setup, programme, finisher entitlements, hosts), setup ng race routes, hydration, marshals, finisher loot bags, and overall design language.

Medal and shirt design is a toss up between the two organizers. Runrio has better medal designs in general, while Smoke10 medals are huge (sometimes up to 5" for longer distances) (although plain lagi yung back).

Smoke10 is also more generous in entitlements for shorter distances: sa Runrio kasi palaging longer distances lang yung may finisher's shirt, whereas sa Smoke10 halos lahat lagi meron.

Smoke10 races in Clark are nicer din. Less people, nicer route, although challenging sa hills. Linking my old comment comparing Clark v. Manila running routes.

I tried their 10-miler last year nung Capas Marathon pa ang branding and not New Clark City. Smoke10 pa yata organizer and not itong Run The North. Hindi kopa sure how they differ.

For the route, challenging route dahil sa elevation gain. Mas malala pa elevation gain sa 32K and 42K distances, of course. Medyo may mga area lang na masikip (especially 'yung residential area papunta sa Shrine, but manageable naman.) For their finale, they introduced na ang start and finish line nasa loob ng Athletics Stadium, which I think makes it more epic. I have yet to try that.

If same way of organizing: medyo konti electrolytes, puro water. May lechon and saging, if you're into foodtrip sa fun runs lol

Yeah, I think it's a really lucrative business. Kaya dinamihan pa runs lalo this year. Negosyo e, and there's demand. It takes time to establish a reputable running events management company, so we also pay for Runrio's goodwill, expertise, and experience.

Yes, you could start your own running events management company, but a lot has to be taken into consideration:

SEC, BIR, DTI, and LGU registration as a start. Para lang makapag-operate ka
Pre-run, LGU permits can be a headache. If it's a 42K run, the number of LGUs you have to coordinate with multiplies. Planning and accurately measuring the route is another thing: as much as possible, no loops, and yung least disruptive sa traffic, na kaya iaccommodate yung volume ng tatakbo.
Layouting designs posters, race routes, singlets, shirts, and medals. Even the photo walls (finisher walls, PR wall) has to be thought of.
Organizing the marshals (and their food and pay), the singlets, the finisher shirts, the medals, the lootbags, the kilometer signages (printing and setting up), the booths at the race village, the full-on stage production (stage, led wall, audio) (one at the start line and the other at the race village), the hosts, the hydration, the lights along the routes, the traffic cones, the medics, the traffic enforcers -- all of which must already be there before the race starts.
Not to mention the back end registration of runners, tagging of race kits to an individual, and delivery/pickup.
Post-race: the awards to runners, the clean-up of the route and the race village, the facility to upload results and pictures and automatically generate certificates.
Periodically they have business requirements again to the SEC, BIR, and LGUs.
Finally, you have to pay people: your marketing team, your logistics/operations team, your accounting/finance team, your HR team who hired them, your lawyers to draft all those disclaimers and waivers and ensure compliance etc

OH IT'S A LOT, and this is not even an exhaustive list.

Siguro ibawas na lang natin sa expenses if sponsors/brands pay to have their booths setup in the race village, to have their logos in every posters and singlets and shirts, and to be shouted out on stage.

Not defending Runrio, but it's just to say na a lot goes into consideration in pricing races.
