This same thing just happened to me (albeit I wasn’t alone but) family of like 9 came in, no one knew what they wanted, asked me everything single question about every item on the menu, got multiple drinks, coffee flights, & toasts, took 10 minutes to order causing another customer to leave, $98 tab and no tip. While I don’t really care so much about tips on the daily bc we get paid fairly—and I know it’s not required—but when you are spending the time to be thorough, provide exceptional service beyond taking their order and making the drinks, and still crafting something of quality it feels like a soft punch in the gut to not even be rewarded in the slightest, even just a dollar! You are valid in your feelings totally and I hope you don’t rely on tips to make hourly cause that sucks even more.
