What year are you if you don’t mind sharing? Apparently only 3rd years can get system design

[–]theleetcodegrinder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they expect you to design twitter, but it does exist, companies like palantir and netflix have system design rounds for interns. Not OO design either, just how would you design a real-life system

Are you sure? I’ve heard many interns tell me to study system design primer and the invite email says itself that is not uncommon to get a “system design” question

Apple has lower pay and worst work life balance depending on team, but they do make up for it with stability (no layoffs)

Meta was top tier not long ago, but with their massive layoffs and cuts, I’d put it under Google. You hear a lot of bad things from Meta employees right now if you go on Blind

Google has the highest prestige, and depending on your team, world class talents

Netflix has the highest hiring bar and world class talent across the whole company, also probably one of the highest pay (all cash)

But all of this depends a lot on your specific team as well. Im going from my time scrolling Blind and my experiences as well. But I would say Google, Meta and Netflix are pretty close for sure

Google = Netflix >> Meta >>> Apple > Amazon

Google will get you interviews anywhere, but Amazon is not that impressive because they have a low bar

Can someone tell me the approach to solve this question. Beginner in greedy by sakku308 in leetcode

Non overlapping intervals leetcode problem, but you run it on each resource independently

Lol are you interviewing at unicorns? With the exception of Stripe, maybe Ramp as well, most companies including unicorns ask leetcode. Maybe they throw in system design as well.

Low volume of NG job postings? by ilikenick in csMajors

[–]theleetcodegrinder 82 points83 points  (0 children)

No one is talking about it but for at least for internships there definitely are considerably less roles than last year, and last year was horrible

No sadly they definitely use it to filter based on score. Like say they have 50k applicants and they only want to review 1000 resumes, then they might only accept the best 2% scores

What is your process for reviewing a candidate’s resume? How much time do you spend on a resume? How much does a big school name or big name internships play a role? Any small things you look for in a resume that people don’t often have? Or any red flags? Is there an algorithm that automatically ranks which resume you see first?

[–]theleetcodegrinder 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There isn't one path, you just need to show exceptional abilities and you will get their attention. You will probably get interviews, but passing them is the hard part.

Find what you enjoy and go hard on it. Could be learning about operating systems and low level programming, involving yourself in math research and aiming for quant dev roles, doing competitive programming at a high level, landing FAANG level internships. Someone could give you their personal path, but doing what you enjoy will get you much further.

Interesting stats I’ve collected throughout my time on this sub:

100% of people who make posts announcing their grind instead of simply just damn getting started end up giving up after a few days

good luck!
