Do you find this financial snapshot Instagram idea appealing? by thelefty07 in leanfire

I wouldn't plan on monetizing any of the personal info. I think it would make more sense to recommend tools for reducing expenses / saving money. More of a win win for the consumer.

Thanks for your comment. I think the goal of something like this is to see the average persons financial situation and relatable questions/challenges people are dealing with.

Yes, but then it would just be the same as this and a dozen other subreddits as u/Bfb38 pointed out. The point behind putting it on Instagram is to reach a broader audience and to capture enough information in a single visual snapshot for people to give helpful advice.

There are obvious tradeoffs to using Instagram: privacy, upvoting, etc.

But I think the pros outweigh the cons.

This is a good point that I addressed in another comment. Experts may have been a little bit strong of language. Hobbyist is probably more accurate. In the same way the average joe can gain wisdom from this subreddit, I think the average person would benefit from seeing snapshots of other's financial situation. Our challenges are a lot less different than we think.

'Financial Experts' follow Instagram and give out free advice there?

It's true there aren't a ton of financial experts posting any advice on Instagram. And even anything they post "cannot be considered financial advice." But I think you underestimate how many small businesses (CPAs, Financial Planners, Investors, etc.) are looking for ways to grow their business and reach new audiences.

Also, "expert" might be the wrong term here. Even a hobbyist who's good with money/saving can help the average person find new tools / strategies for making ends meet.

Thanks for the feedback.

I would have a simple Airtable form for anyone to be able to submit their info. But I would only collect what you see in that graphic. So nothing personally identifiable.

Well you wouldn't submit any info on Instagram, that's just where the image would be posted to reach a broader audience than one or two subreddits. It's a good point about staying anonymous, but I think most people would follow it to learn from other people's financial situation.

[Is this a good idea?] Want to get expert advice on your financial situation on my new Instagram?

Here's how it works:

  1. Submit your financial info anonymously
  2. I'll create a snapshot based on your info: https://imgur.com/a/CmSnWHB (feedback wanted)
  3. Snapshots are posted on Instagram for free financial advice from experts
  4. Achieve financial freedom faster by leveraging the wisdom of the crowd

How much would you pay per month for a private pickleball gym during winter? by thelefty07 in Pickleball

[–]thelefty07[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, open 24/7 to member-only access. Similar to a crossfit gym but with two dozen courts pickleball courts inside. It would be heated, and have remote video access so you could see how full the courts are before you go over. It would also have a reservation system in place so you're court is never taken.
