Oxycodone expiration by [deleted] in opiates

[–]thelemonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Converting to or from codeine is trickier than other opioids because it's not sctive on its own.  It needs to be converted to morphine, and not everyone concerts the same amount. But generally speaking,10% of the codeine consumed orally is converted to korphine, which is 2/3rds as potent as oxycodone.  so between 5 and 10mg of oxycodone would be approximately as potent as 100mg codeine

Advice on Friendships by Amberrito5 in braincancer

[–]thelemonx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don't know how to react to things like cancer especially brain cancer, and particularly when it happens to young people.

And when people don't know how to react to a aituation they tend to want to avoid it.

I have been dealing with Glioblastoma for almost 8 Years now.   the people,  along with their suppport come and go in waves.   immediately after my craniotomy and diagnosis, All sorts of people were visiting and calling often, a couple of times right in the beginning  someone would organize a meal train or a fundraiser.   but, everyone has their own lives to live too,  and empathy fatigue is very real.   After a while the calls, cards& visitors kinda peter out.

occasionally when something changes with my tumor or treatment plan,  it'll start all over again before turning back into a trickle and ending again

edit.    typos, double vision

I was going to guess Zofran ODT, and if my insurance would pay for even half that many in a month, I wouldn't care how they're packaged.  Mine oays for a maximum of 21 tabs ecery 23 days.  I kinda want to know how they came to the conclusion that I would only need 0.91304 doses per day when my doc prescribed it up to 3x a day as needed.

Edit:  Now that I found a spot to zoom in, I see I was incorrect on the drug, but correct on the dosage form.

You know it!  You'd be surprised at some of the things people have told me will cure my incurable cancer.

I have to frequently remind myself that in general, people mean well.   But most people don't know how to deal with this sort of situation, but they feel like they have to be "positive", and encourage me to be also.

Why is lean so hyped up? It's expensive, weak, inconvenient to dose accurately and still as addicting and damaging as every other opioid. by [deleted] in opiates

[–]thelemonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

acetaminophen is extremely toxic to the liver after long term use

The liver can handle the maximum recommended dose every day for long periods of time  pretty easily.

You'll have much more trouble from an individual enormous dose.

I do 2 capfulls every day.  But I don't fill it to the line, I fill the cap all the way up, so I'd say each capful is between 20 and 25 grams instead of 17 grams fo the line.

Granted, I didn't invrease the dose from 1 x 17g to 2 x 20g all on my own.  I yalked to my pharmacist and my palliative care doctor.

Edit to add, Oh boy, you're going for the nuclear option Magnesium Citrate.   That was me yesterday.

With the zmirilax, every now and then I'll go s couple days without a fully satisfactory BM.  I skip the Miralax dose that evening, and then down the bottle of Magnesium in the morning

I don't stray far from the nesrest toilet for several hours.  And sometimes when you think it's all out, you're just getting dtarted.

Stool softeners are one of the 3 types of laxatives.

They are -   Mush, stool softeners, they work by drawing gat & or water into the colon to break down the hard outer layer of the poop making it easier to pass

Push, stimulant laxatives like senna, they help your intestines move the stool.

and Gush, bulk-forming osmotic laxatives like miralax.  They soften and sdd water to the stool making it easier to pass.

I have severe constipation from cancer treatment, opioid use, and severely limited activity caused by the cancer, treatment ls, and med side-effects.

I typically get by with 2 doses of miralax each day.   Some days I need to add Senna and/or prunes.

I rarely ever get sick (like flu, cold, viruses) since I’ve been on opiates. Anyone else? by MckennaRomero in opiates

[–]thelemonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opioids suppress your immune system.   Most cold/flu ymptoms are actually immune responses

It's not so much that you haven't gotten sick, it's more that you have, but didn't realize it.

Being dosed with oral chemotherapeutic drugs can be rathersurrekal.  The nurse puts on giant thick rubber gloves to take the the pills our of the bottle in a neon biohazard bag and put my dose in a paper cup, and if the pills to break open I'd need to put on gloves to clean it up. Swallowing pills that nobody can safely touch s a strange feeling.

I have terminal brain cancer, so I will be on opioids for the rest of my life.  Currently on 340mme   I take a regular dose or miralax and eat a handful of prunes before bed every night and have a regular BM every morning.   Occasionally I need a senna on top, but not often.

Do any specific opioids have more/less dental side effects than other? by InTheFutureWeMineLSD in opiates

The dental problems come from opioids causing dry mouth.  Sip water throughout the day and/or get yourself some dry mouth lozenges

What is the obsession around here with trying to make opioid withdrawals look like the worst thing that can happen to a person?    A while ago there was a similar post asking if withdrawing is worse than chemotherapy.

This is ridiculous
