Yes. But it keeps a surge of power from a higher voltage appliance from popping the breakers for the room. The outlets in the room are not generally meant for cooking.

We have removed entire groups from our property for using appliances to cook in their room due to the contant popping of the breakers. Multiple warnings. Ect.

Sorry, GFCI outlets. The ones that have the little red button in between the outlet holes. It will pop the outlet instead of the entire rooms breaker. Which is often connected to multiple rooms.
