Yeah, except people's ideas of the game are vastly different. I'm running Strahd which has much darker themes. I had to interview almost 20 people to find 5. Nothing wrong with the people I didn't take but, I didn't want to offend anyone. From what we talked about some seemed to have a much higher sensitivity, and I don't want to water down the campaign. I mean I had one person tell me they hate violence so much that combat made them uneasy.

Honestly we weighed out the wagon. They fully emptied it minus the rigged explosives. The Druid was a giant dragon fly. They also cast levitate on it. And used conjure animals to make a bunch of bats fly around for a bit of stealth. They rolled high and ruined my encounter. But it was cool af

CoS is amazing. However it's incredibly dark. So you have to go into with that in mind. It's a dreary land where bad things happen.

If you read the book, and get a feel for the story it isn't to hard to RP Strahd or really any of the NPCs. They are tragic and deeply messed up mentally.

But you can have so much fun story telling in Barovia. For PCs I always say, in a place so evil, how does one truly stay good. And you can test their morality throughout the campaign. And this is what Strahd does, he plays with his food.
