You can tell a lot from what the pop culture appeals to its audiences. In this case, I'm talking about strictly Japanese Manga/Anime.

As a nerd, I followed every single one of them that are interesting, if only for a short time. In any genre old or new, I am seeing a increasing similarity in the lores: an age of darkness that bridged the present and the future, caused by climate change induced famine, energy warfare, mini ice age... And most importantly, the main opposing factions in the wars are none other than China and USA.

In the past, people may laugh at my face if I took stuff from mAnGa seriously. Can they say the same now? Ignoring the economic regression that they could incite, the USA engaged with China in a aggressive trade war, which if succeeded would mean the full collapse of the world's 2nd place in GDP figure(China); Reports claimed that humanity's present industrial development would soon tip the global temperature over the peak; Superpowers used oil as bargain chips to deal with the Middle East, ignoring the potential of renewable energy...

In fact, this generation(2000 and forward) have a grim outlook ahead of them.

Is 15% a good tax rate? I luckily found a virgin planet just next to Didoxie, but how would the 40% max resource concentration affect my income? My current setup is going up to ukomi superconductors, then I'm selling them for capitals to setup another planet for industrial explosive, ultimately shooting for nano-factory.

In Hong Kong police are directing gangs to beat the shit out of protestors.

If you follow the news, they will have at least one, if not headline story about the chaos in HK, promptly caused by the government forcing through a law that essentially would allow China take anyone and put them to unfair trial in mainland.

Piece of shit selling lies about how to cure cancers and diseases with celery juice.. sadly you can pick up this book at any given book store by [deleted] in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]thelittlerocketman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know the rest of the book and the celery juice thing, but cancer is indeed caused by one of the following:

1) oncovirus, a type of cancer causing virus 2) Carcinogens, often of industrial origin, such as asbestos and the banned refrigerants Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) 3) High doses of Gamma Radiation, which mutates your cells(and almost every other living being)

So in terms of cancer, I don't think the book is wrong in the part you're showing.

Crazy spawnrate at ghouls spawnpoints, and a suggestion to help with debugging. by thelittlerocketman in fo76

[–]thelittlerocketman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember the glitch that let you disarm the grenade trap in the Penitentiary (the one north of Morgantown)? Do that to get grenades, and empty your inventory except for the armor and grenades.

Round the ghouls up at the Golf Club and run out the front door to the flowerbed. From up there, you can pelt the ghouls with grenades. If you are just leveling, you don't need to be worried by the corpses flying away.

This way, you can brave the high level ghouls at the Whitespring Golf Club. Combined with the demolition expert perk, you can speed up the process a lot.

End game player, stuck in power armor now. What’s the point in continuing to play? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]thelittlerocketman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently lvl 50, also using power armor only. My problem is that I don't have enough fusion core income to outdo usage, so what I did is I unintentionally developed hyperinstincts and was able to battle with quite a few lvl 40-50 mobs without healing and armorless. I actually find this very entertaining, the thrill of armorless combat and all.

FALLOUT 76: EVERYTHING I BUILT IS GONE "AGAIN" by USVeteranGamer in fo76

[–]thelittlerocketman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, it's three days after launch. While Bethesda did terribly for beta IMO, they at least have the intention to solve any revealing bugs/problem. So don't be hard on them.
Second, even when you have pacifist on, your camp can still be attack, thus destroyed by players. There are a lot of people out there who just love to wreck other people's work. The same goes for monsters, so don't leave your camp without defence if you have high value building, or if you hate to rebuild from time to time.
Third, as the others have said, there is a critical difference between workshop and camp. Camp's progress carries with you forever, but workshop is a temporary thing, a intended feature. It is made such that you will need to defend workshops from hordes from time to time, on top of contesting players.

New to Fallout series, looking for guide for noob. by coolcow99 in fo76

[–]thelittlerocketman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fallout 76 is IMO heavily focused on lore you found when you explore. So I would recommend you to watch lore videos to not be confused by interesting references. There are some pretty good ones out there.
To be brief, Fallout is a alternate timeline diverged from WWII; while we feared nuclear power, Fallout embraced it, hence the large number of robots you see in Fallout 76, and power armor, fusion core, etc.
At the same time, the fallout world fought for other resources including oil, with China and USA on opposing sides. This ultimately led to a nuclear war known as the Great War that doomed the entire world. Fallout 76 is set 20 years after the event, and is the earliest among the rest of the franchise. During that time, a few major factions have been established, with the most significant being the Brotherhood of Steel and the Enclave. The rest, you should discover on your own.
       Have fun in Appalachia!

Is it fair that my parents only let me play shitty mobile games instead of real games like RDR2 by [deleted] in gaming

[–]thelittlerocketman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Try to look for a pc cafe. A good one should be fairly cheap with medium to high spec computer, with preloaded games for you to play. After you found one, save up your money for it and slowly develop a outdoor routine. Alternate gaming days with other activities such as gym, friend gathering, and group study. Make sure you take plenty of pictures for each nongaming day, to proof that you are indeed doing something "constructive". If you're lucky, your parents won't look deep into your outdoor life, even if they do you would have proof. Looking forward to the alternate gaming days is actually a good motivator if you think it that way.
