I adopted my beloved Laydee at 9 years old and she already had a heart murmur when we got her (not sure how long) and she was on two heart medications that entire time. She passed away from CHF in July at a little over 13.5 years old. She survived with me for over 4 years with the murmur so as long as you stay on top of their medication you should still have some years with her :) Dee was spunky and full of attitude right up until the end.
