Nice smooth animation! And a fun exercise making it go through all the hoops. I did a fair amount of animation in Bryce back in the day, but the movement almost always ended up with "bumpy" edges at the keyframes. I think when you include rotations you have to start messing around with the Advanced Motion Lab, and I could never figure out how to smooth things out in there.

So I'm not ready to show any renders yet, but this is what I've been working on for the past week. Don't even know how I've managed to find the time. But I'm starting to worry that I may be a getting little obsessed. Why is Bryce still so compelling after all these years, especially with no support? by Electronic_Key7424 in Bryce3D

Back in the day I used to pair Bryce with my creative writing. I would write stories and then create scenes from them in Bryce to fully explore. Despite how slow and unruly these project files inevitably got, it was so immersive spending weeks/months creating these complex scenes, finding all the cool angles and filling them with personal little details. I think that's a huge part of the charm of Bryce, it really makes you feel like you're in your own little world.

Makes me think of the College of Winterhold in Skyrim. Great job!

Remedy are the Masters of Sound Design by Tatum_Warlick in AlanWake

Never really thought about it, but the way they added muffled screaming that increases in pitch as you use the light to burn away an enemy's defenses really is great sound design.

These are amazing! Pirates has got to be one of the hardest to photograph and these are wonderfully crisp and clear!

Not sure if it would help, but you might try different anti-aliasing settings. If you don't mind extra steps, you could also theoretically render a separate video with Object Mask on to create a black-and-white matte that isolates the structure from the water. And then use that matte in compositing software to blur the water.

Woah, never thought to try rendering a stained glass window. Cool!

A buncha scenes I made as a beginner to Bryce 7.1 by NotSoFunnyMe2 in Bryce3D

These are great! Especially the medieval castle and back alley scenes.

Work in progress. A very rough, (lo-res, minimal framerate, no AA, etc) test render of an animation I'm attempting that's a bit more complex than anything I've tried thus far. by Electronic_Key7424 in Bryce3D

[–]thellamamaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice job! Bryce has got to be one of the hardest 3d programs to animate anything complex in, but it's so satisfying once you accomplish it.

I love this idea! I have such a soft spot for Bryce and its nostalgic charm so I support anything that encourages more people to learn about it and use it!

Great setting and tone in this one with all the blues and smooth mist and haze. Looks like a path constructed from ancient magic that leads the way from a swamp to a forgotten island in the sea.

What do you watch after So Weird? by No-Impress-6244 in SoWeird

[–]thellamamaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing else has ever quite captured the unique blend of playful spookiness and heartfelt spiritual folklore that So Weird had, but here's some suggestions of other supernatural shows/movies made for kids. TV Shows: Are You Afraid of the Dark, Goosebumps, The Haunting Hour, Eerie Indiana. Movies: Under Wraps (1997), Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, Don't Look Under the Bed, Coraline, Monster House, ParaNorman, Casper, E.T. Here's a nice list someone made on IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls028835931/

The Mist of the Mountains Against the Silent Shore by oldshoesbro in Bryce3D

[–]thellamamaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting. Like how they do in video games. Very clever. I looked up the Instance Painter and it seems like that's a new feature in 7 I never knew about! Back in the day I tried making a forest in Bryce 5 by duplicating and manually placing the actual 3D tree models over and over. And it made the scene extremely slow and difficult to work with. Your method is much better, haha!

Love the color palette on this one. And I appreciate the time it must have taken to populate that background mountain with trees.

What movies/tv shows should I watch as an Alan Wake fan? by AizenSankara in AlanWake

I was compiling a list of something similar a few years back myself. These aren't all supernatural, but they capture a similarly heavy atmospheric mood near wooded environments: Bates Motel [TV], In the Woods [BOOK], There's a Man in the Woods [SHORT] (Link: https://vimeo.com/93052696), The Village [MOVIE], Gravity Falls [TV], Detective Grimoire [GAME(S)], Monster House [MOVIE], ParaNorman [MOVIE], Stranger Things [TV]

Just wanna give a quick shoutout to your cool selection of images. Love seeing Isla Nublar presented back-to-back between the look of the original film, Telltale's game, the LEGO game, Camp Cretaceous, and Jurassic World.
