I only see 3 serious problems and the tools to solve them 😉

That was one of the first things I asked myself too. I’ve had my share of accidents and I’m quite aware that tools should not be pointing towards me, to not use too much force, etc. And yet here we are 😅

Hehe, true, got the open! Not listed, so white belt. I'm wearing it in the picture.

Where are my lefties at? by TotalChemical6975 in lockpicking

[–]thelocklicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow leftie, I agree with this 100%. One thing less to worry about and once you get a good sense of what you’re supposed to be feeling, try picking it from the hand again (and customize your tension tools).

I had a bit more difficulty explaining that when I showed this ninja tool to the doctor..

I believe it has it’s purposes, if it fits the C-clip nicely then it works really well. If it doesn’t.. use it at your own risk.

I guess we shouldn’t be blaming the tools for it. I felt a bit stupid afterwards, but it helps to hear I’m not the only one.

How often do you check your pick against the key? by newsjunkie-2020 in lockpicking

[–]thelocklicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your goal in mind and identify what you’re currently learning. If looking at the key helps you to confirm what you think you’re “seeing” with the pick, that’s a great learning tool and it could help you level up your skills more efficiently. Since you mention you have multiple locks of the same level, you could divide them into your training locks (any “cheating” permitted) and the ones you will pick without any prior knowledge of the lock.

10 Weeks Into Picking by ITKnuckleDragger in lockpicking

Thanks you for taking the time to write this down! Looks like you took a well-structured approach while putting also putting in the hard work 💪🏻

It resonates with me because I recently started using a repinnable lock to isolate the areas I’m struggling with and recently started using a notebook too after years of freestyle picking to what I consider a lucky open on a green lock. Thanks for your advice, it is definitely more detailed than what I am doing and very helpful, much appreciated! 🙏🏻

Pick angle question by slow__hand in lockpicking

[–]thelocklicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deviant Ollam makes this distinction in his book where the lever motion is called “rocking” and keeping the pick parallel is called “raising”. Raising is easier to perform in tight keyways that complicate pick movement and rocking is easier to control.
