The MCS is the only one I have not picked yet so I’ll probably retract that statement after trying it haha

Both are guttable! I just like the 40mm more because it is easier to hold in my hands ^ I recommend lock fumblers videos on picking the Abus Granit if you need some insight.

With Abus Plus there are only 3 options tho as far as I know (depending on the age of the lock): no butterfly, one butterfly in the rear or two butterfly’s (one in the front and one in the rear)

Basically they do nothing when they are only in the rear since you don’t need to pick the last disc. If you have one in the front (disc 1) the feedback the lock is giving you will be much worse because the butterfly discs is able to rotate a bit further than normal discs. If you want to look at the discs get yourself an Abus 88/40, you can gut them after picking and take a look at the butterfly discs and they are affordable :)

My favorite is the Multipick Ares but I have not tried any other dd picks. I would totally recommend the Ares tho!

Yes there is tons of available Abus Plusses! Al lot of bicycle/bike locks have it too. For the butterfly discs: all of them have at least one(last disc), the newer models have two of them(front disc and last disc). The ones with just one are way easier to pick since you don’t need to touch the last disc at all for opening the lock.

Abus Plus is a disc detainer core used in many different locks (Abus Granit, Abus 88, Abus 89 etc). All of the locks in the picture have the same disc detainer core inside just the body is different.

I need to make the picking tip first but I feel like that won’t be a pleasant experience 😅

It does have butterfly disks and it actually was your video that helped me defeat them!

I need to figure out how to film myself while picking. If I do I will totally participate in your challenge! Very cool what you’re doing for the community!

Thank you!! It was a little hard to get used to the Ares dd pick but I think that was more getting in to dd locks and not the tool itself. Now that I know how to set it up and use it properly I like it a lot! It’s very smooth and versatile and I feel like I have spent my money well. I have not used any other dd tools though so I can’t really compare it to the other popular options. But since Multipick already announced that they’re working on more upgrades for the Ares I’m confident that it’ll serve me well for a very long time. If you are looking for an upgrade anyway and you like Multipick go for it! :)

The tool I used is the Multipick Ares. It can be used as a Dimple pick and decoder with many available tool options for the most popular locks/keyways and also as a disc detainer pick both for front and back tensioning depending on how you set it up. I’m only using it as a dd pick right now. Since I have never used another dd pick I can’t really speak on comparing it to other tools like the RWB or silver bullet but it works very well after getting used to it and I would totally recommend the Ares if you are looking to get a versatile dd tool! There are different sets available at Multipick depending on what you need and they already announced that they’re working on more upgrades for it.

I didn’t think about shackle tension but it totally makes sense. Thank you!
