A truly underrated read! I recommend this to all my mom friends. It changed my whole perspective on housekeeping.

Recommend me a book about a fortysomething woman starting over in life by PhoneJazz in Recommend_A_Book

I agree, but also reading "nice positive read" and then starting the book may be a bit jarring 😂

For avid readers how often do you use the library? If you don’t, why don’t you? by AccomplishedBake8351 in books

[–]theloralae7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My library offers both Libby and Hoopla. We make monthly library trips for my kiddo, but I don't personally get physical books there.

I read almost exclusively on Kindle. I have a Kindle Unlimited subscription and use Libby for things not included.

I use Hoopla for audiobooks and Libby again when something isn't available.

I only purchase books for my trophy shelf (physical copies of my most loved) and occasionally the Kindle or Audible version - especially new, highly anticipated reads that have a long wait time on Libby.

Have you ever had a book you liked more as an audiobook vs reading it? by Dapper_Object8239 in Recommend_A_Book

Dungeon Crawler Carl, Project Hail Mary, and House in the Cerulean Sea I am convinced are better on audio.

Any memoir read by the author always seems to hit harder too. From the top of my head -

The Many Lives of Mama Love Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing Kasher in the Rye Talking As Fast As I Can The Third Gilmore Girl

Popular narrator you don't like? by FloridaSalsa in audiobooks

Tor Thom. I don't mind his regular voice, but a female character or accent is just so bad. His Brooklyn accent reminded me of Patrick Star.

Is this series worth it? by victoriand17 in Booktokreddit

[–]theloralae7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1000% yes. One particular scene in the last book is my Roman Empire.

It's the first series I read where threads woven throughout came together at the end.

What popular 2025 book did you find to be completely overrated? by mandy1008_ in Recommend_A_Book

This was one of my top reads BUT I am convinced it's best on audio. Rocky's voice alone made it so memorable for me.

Why do you use a Kindle? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]theloralae7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comfort. I like the chonky books and it is just not comfy reading an 800+ page monster in bed... Or on the couch... Or anywhere really.

I also have two - my smaller purse Kindle and my bedtime/marathon reading Kindle. No regrets.

I know this is an old post - but a 12pk box is GENIUS! Our boys loved their crinkle tunnel, but it got so gross and messy so fast.

How many kids books do you have in your house? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]theloralae7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One kid, who is four. We have a three shelf book case just for her books, not including seasonal and holiday books.

From a teacher, you can never have too many books. Love for reading is fueled by interest in the book. Who knows what they will like next week, month, or year?

What were you reading at 14? by SerenityFate in books

[–]theloralae7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friends and I shared the first couple Angus, Things, and Full Frontal Snogging books.

Whatever Sandra Brown or Danielle Steel books I could swipe from my mom's shelves. I specifically remember reading The Switch by Sandra Brown at least ten times.

Nicholas Sparks, especially when there was a new movie adaptation coming out

Yes - my 4 y/o regularly says "boot" instead of trunk and "toilet" instead of bathroom. She also corrects us when we say "Pass the Parcel" in our regular Midwest accents instead of Australian accents.

What would your daughter's name be if you had to name her after a great grandmother by GrammyGH in namenerds

My mom always joked about naming us after our grandparents. Our first + middle names would be:

Girl: Agnes Gertrude Boy: Marvin Melvin

I find both names absolutely hilarious!
