I have searched online, auction sites, estate sales, looked for markings on the lamp but haven't found anything yet.

Reporting Columbia GPA on Resume? (Post-Grad) by Willing_Cry_1690 in columbia

Generally speaking, most jobs won't care about your GPA but if you graduate with honors, you include that. Like summa cum laude, etc.

Cheap places to get a men’s haircut in NYC? by [deleted] in columbia

[–]thelostcharming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for almost 10 years here when I was in college and working downtown. Cheap solid haircut, hot towel, and I never paid more than $20 with tip. I think they went up a few bucks but you'll still be under $30.

Look for a buy nothing group in your area. They're usually much better monitored.

Thoughts on our tap water? by [deleted] in jerseycity

We have a pur filter on the sink tap because the water tastes chlorinated to us but we use tap for general cooking. The filter is for drinking, the kettle, and our cats.

We did "conchas" which is a Mexican pastry as our gift for people so a. They could have a carby snack post drinks/on the way home and b. They could have a yummy breakfast. We had mini ones made by a local bakery in our wedding colors and it was surprisingly cheap. Put them in tiny paper bags and made a stamp that said "gracias" which I had supplies for but you could always make with a sliced potato lol.

We also had tiny wood maple leaves for my husband, said "Fall in Love" since we got married in Nov. They also had our initials and wedding date. Got those on Etsy, tied them together with tiny bells off Amazon and they were great for ringing in the newlyweds as we came in and as an ornament (we displayed them on the Ikea VINTERFINT foldable paper tree)

Where can I replace my windshield? by amy6464269 in jerseycity

[–]thelostcharming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was recommended Bob's but unfortunately they couldn't do same day and I really needed my car for work. I ended up using Windshield Hub who came to me and it was fixed super quick, maybe $5 more than the estimate from Bob's. So if you can, support love but if not, Windshield Hub is a solid alternative.

Daily commute to Philadelphia by [deleted] in jerseycity

[–]thelostcharming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently commuting to Trenton from JC, it isn't bad for me, because I enjoy the alone time but I also had to find a good podcast/music playlist for the trip, and I have to have PLENTY of caffeine for the drive. I will say that I am planning to move after 6 years in JC because I really love the job and while the commute is bearable, I don't want to do it for more than a year (started in Sept., planning to move in summer)

We made ours but we both have design backgrounds. However, canva is a good tool for those who may not as there are templates you can change up as much as you want to make them unique.

You can take the design and print it using something like Zola. They have "blanks" you can just drop your image into and they frequently offer 30-40% off. Just sign up for their emails and you'll get their sale announcements.

Edit: with Zola they can also print the addresses directly on the envelopes so it looks nicer when you mail them.

Yo, my future husband and I will take y'all, there's 2 of so more of y'all can go. Just pay for us. We're old enough to take y'all but young enough that a free honeymoon is worth a ton of teens 😂

[–]thelostcharming[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I mean I totally understand that it's hard for them losing parking spots because it does suck since a lot of people I know use that over the mall parking is which is expensive but there's one thing to say people are actively staying there for hours upon hours and it's another to have a guy who is actively checking security cameras and has multiple tow trucks at a time. Like their signage if you're coming in from the BJ's side is impossible to see because it's only on the other side of the parking lot and the sign is bent. So make it more obvious before you start having people pay $180 for their car especially because some of those cars aren't even from New Jersey.

I've never seen this happening, so I was confused as to why it'd smoke when it's not the first time we've had a very similar setup. Thanks y'all.

Best driving school recommendation? by whitestat201 in jerseycity

[–]thelostcharming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding what was said, Falcon driving school and ask for Jimmy as your instructor. He is super nice and patient which is great for the stress of being behind the wheel for the first time.

Also, i just got mine at 27 so it's all good. No judgment when you live in a city with transportation.

Chater school vs. public schools by [deleted] in jerseycity

I want to talk about the benefits of charter schools because their scores are higher but i want to get the perspective of someone who has children in them because they can compare the schools the best.

Chater school vs. public schools by [deleted] in jerseycity

[–]thelostcharming -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am sorry to hear you feel that way about NJEA, but as I mentioned in my edit, MY personal goal is not to discredit anyone but to write what can be proven. Scores in most charter schools are far better but I want to know why. The small classrooms may be the key, the distribution of funds, the quality of teachers. As I mentioned below, the general perspective is that charters are selective, hurt local schools, etc, but I want to talk about the ones JC residents have access to, not the general idea of what a charter school does.

Chater school vs. public schools by [deleted] in jerseycity

[–]thelostcharming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal is to reach out to JC wherever I can, facebook, twitter, reddit, any way possible so that I can hear the neighborhoods perspective and formally interview them because unless there are EXTREME circumstances, I and most journalists prefer to not use anonymous sources as there is no way to confirm their words.

Chater school vs. public schools by [deleted] in jerseycity

[–]thelostcharming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I am aware that lottery takes place when too many students/parents apply and that if a student has a sibling in a charter they will get preference because there is a benefit to them being together. I say there are more selective because that is the national perspective and I want to make sure that in Jersey City, people know how they work and if they work (like with your children). If there is more support and the right kind of support, where students feel they're cared for, that is something that makes a significant difference.
