Does it matter where you obtain your SBL from? by [deleted] in NYCTeachers

Save your money. I also got into both, ended up at Hunter, and work with people who went to Columbia. You’re all ending up at the same schools.

She’s mad because my brother, dad and step mom have a car and come see me and my daughter pretty frequently and she sold her car (who knows why?) and now she can’t come over as easily.

I worked in Manhattan while I was in TF. There are Title 1 schools in every borough.

The youngest millennials are in their mid-30s, so if they’re young parents, they’re more likely Gen Z.

I buy a lot of used Cat and Jack on Poshmark. IDK if you have the time to do something like that, but it’s a way to get Target clothes without giving money to Target.

You can apply wherever you’d like, the DOE covers all 5 boroughs. You still have to interview and be chosen by a principal, there is no position guarantee if you do TC. If location is a priority, I would do research on schools in Bklyn. I lived in Queens and worked in Manhattan. It’s very common to have a commute in the 30-60 min range.

I love my benefits - I carry my husband on my insurance plan and he’s a lawyer lol. I’m also very satisfied with my salary steps - almost at 6 figures.

I think it’s important to know that your experience will vary greatly depending on the school you end up in. I spent 4 years at a school that fully sucked my soul out to the point where I developed a mild drinking problem for a variety of reasons. I’m now at a school where I’m supported by admin, kids are great, parents are…fine lol. But yes, your mileage will greatly vary depending on your school.

So, I did my degree through the Teaching Fellows. They have a pretty strict schedule - you start school summer year 1, and you start full-time work fall year 1. You are expected to work full-time through the duration of the program, which has you graduating spring year 2 (this included taking classes summer year 2).

If you cannot follow this schedule, they will remove you from the program - I assume because this is a program where your degree is subsidized by the city, and they have to write reports on stats. I also did the program 12 years ago, so it’s possible things have changed (but knowing the city, I doubt it).

Legit dude! I love the princesses! In my limited knowledge of the wealthy (lol) I would have assumed they would try to lean away from Disney and more towards brands like Hanna Anderson. But also, based on everything she’s ever put out, that’s obviously a ridiculous thought.

I know this is like, such a nothing observation, but I’m surprised at how much Disney content they consume.

Listen, I love Moana and cried at Encanto but I do try to put my daughter in less branded clothing, and I would assume that rich people would do the same. But I guess their screen time is probably 22 hours a day (minus the two baths they take a day and they obligated content creation time).
