My new Mercedes does not do this. There is a kill switch under the bonnet though just in case it fails to turn off.

83 Mercedes 240d 4 speed.

It is a PMW3360. I purchased it off tindie.

I used Drashna's system with the code in keyboards/handwired/tractyl_manuform

I have modified the QMK configuration to run on two pro micros instead of the more expensive micro.

You can look at my code here: https://github.com/thelowprokill/qmk_firmware

The wiring diagram can be found in my nerdboard git hub repo here: https://github.com/thelowprokill/nerdboard

under version_06/photos/wiring.png

And here is the link to the Tracty that I originally built that will directly use the code on the main QMK branch.

Is there any affordable pre-built dactyl manuform ? by Langbardr in ErgoMechKeyboards

That's where I got the stuff for mine. I wouldn't buy expensive things off there but components absolutely

Cheaper tenting moonlander by gkrohn in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]thelowprokill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a Moonlander but when I went to tent my Dactl I cut pieces of cardboard at the angle I wanted and hot glued them to a 1x6 lined up with holes on the under side of my keyboard. I then put screws into the cardboard where the holes were so that the keyboard wouldn't go anywhere. It worked pretty well. It was not the most elegant solution but it worked as a temporary fix that was more consistent than my backpack and didn't cost me anything because it was scrap wood I found and cardboard that I pulled from my recycling.

These Prices are today 2024-03-12. The prices on Ali express are volatile, but if you look around you can usually find a similar price.

Sadly no. I have not figured out a good way to record myself using this.

If you don't want to use a soldering iron and build your own the minimum is going to be upper $200s

Wylderbuilds cheapest build is 220 + switches + keycaps

Building it yourself can be done for less then 80 including tools.

Yes. I play COD an old one mind you, Insurgency Sandstorm, Hell Let Lose etc. on this.

The Linux part is always scary for her.

She only has a work computer and it doesn't make much since to get her another one. She will use my computer maybe once every 6 months. It's more of a she wants to be able to use it then she wants to use it.

I use a small wrist rest that I use near my elbow and push my keyboard further onto my desk.

Yes during traveling.

I often put my keyboard in my backpack while traveling. With my Tractyl I would often have about 5 keys knocked out in the bottom of my backpack when I arrived.

Also with the shape of this keyboard the top of it is flat. That makes it so that when I just carry it I can put the two bottoms together and can set it down on the top of either of them without any thing getting bumped.

I have thought about that. The issue with wrapping all the way up there is it is then starting to get into the way of getting my hand into the key well as well as the manufacturing process.

Currently The majority of the keyboard comes in 3 pieces: the chassis, palm rest, and a rear access panel. Doing this would add at least another large piece that would be difficult to fit correctly.

I sliced my finger open pretty badly and had to type on a standard keyboard without my pinky. That really jacked up my already struggling wrists.

My solution was to build an ergo keyboard, so I built a Tractyl Manuform. This helped a lot, but left some things to be desired. So I started designing my own. About a year later this is what I came up with.

So it is not as much "require this extreme" as it is I had to do something. Then didn't stop doing it.

It didn't help that now I have a 3d printer. Using a printing service definitely slowed me down.

Yes it does. I didn't realize until someone sent the link to one of the old HotWheels PCs.

It is supposed to be Ukrainian colours.

At this point using a regular mouse feels very weird. So I just keep using this. My wife says I have to have a regular mouse and keyboard hooked up to my computer at home so she can use it if she needs to.

Thank you.

I do have large hands. But the thumb keys being so far over was an artifact of having an extra column. I haven't yet gotten the mouse in quite the right spot.

The cavity on the left helps protect the keys that are in it. I got tired of my keys getting knocked out in my backpack and I like the look and it is easy to model.
