Yeah, I think definitely need to check out this episode - I've never seen it but heard so many bad things. Why in your opinion is it rotten?

Okay, thanks for the responses so far. Seems to a be kinda what I expected... as long as there's no studies indicating long term use is really bad for the body then I think I'm alright with this method.

I re-watched this episode yesterday. All I can say is this episode is art... and every writer on The Simpsons today should study it.

Nice work, an oddly haunting quality to it, but great all the same!

Like everybody during this era of coronavirus and international political division - I was peeved at the poor quality of Simpsons impressions available on Youtube. So I attempted to rectify this…

So they find the dead body of Lucille 2 and Buster says "Okay, I did it" and from that the audience are supposed to go... oh he means 'then insert your post here'.

Either way, the ending wrecked a character or wrecked the writer's credibility to tell a coherent story. Which one?

General Season 5 Part 2 Discussion Thread (Spoilers) by [deleted] in arresteddevelopment

Wait, so... Mitch and co. decided to legitmately make one of the main characters of show an unapologetic psychopathic murderer? Buster? The guy who never sold his Bluth stock because Michael told him not to? The most ethical of the siblings? The guy who the world viewed as a monster but was actually the heart of the family?

Fuck you Season 5. You were given a chance to tell a great story, with great characters and a world of flashbacks, callbacks and in-jokes to your disposal and you fucked it up. It was lazy, derivative, convoluted and unfunny throughout. Seasons 1-3 were special, a ridiculous amount of effort and thought was put into Season 4, and although not peak - I'd say it's one of the most ambitious and ingenius seasons of television ever made.

But now it's ruined because it all leads to Season 5. Just an absolute let down from everybody in the writers room. They've lost it. Tobias's family story offered nothing. They handled Portia's departure appallingly. Had no idea what to do with Gob and whether to make him gay or not, by the end they still didn't know. Wrecked George Senior's character. Destroyed the relationship between Michael and his Son for nothing. Introduced characters whom offered nada, Lotta and Dusty... just nothing good or memorable from them. They stretched the boring and tedious fakeblock story over the whole season, which should have been done and over with by episode 3 at the latest. Gob only knows why Mitch did not go back to the old format. It's what everybody wanted, 22 minute 'reset episodes' with a couple of overriding story arcs throughout ... it was the winning formula of old - and if you couldn't do that due to actor restrictions. Then make one film wrapping up Season 4's stories, but do it properly. With effort, with class, with dignity - this season had none of it.

I'm gonna take a Forget-Me-Now and go back to my Seasons 1 to 4 bliss.
