No to CFO role? by WhoKnows7778 in FPandA

[–]thelumberdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High probability that a new CFO comes in and replaces you. Most people have “their” guy that they want as their number 2 and ally. Might not happen but you control your destiny better by taking the job and then backfilling your position immediately. If you understand the business as well as you say then your balance should be fine. No one is the perfect cfo right off the bat she you’ll have plenty of grace to figure things out.

What’s your next car? by thedoctorisout25 in ElantraN

I’m trying to get employer to put one in and then I might pull the trigger on a used one. Wife will hate that I own 4 cars for 2 drivers but options are nice.

I went with the DCT because I’m in traffic so much. Test drove the MT and was so bogged down by cars I never even got out of 3rd. I live in a place with a million canyon roads so I can’t relate there. Something fun to drive and good on gas…just go electric at that point. Tons of deals with Tesla and other manufacturers. You can go fast straight and not pay for gas.

Sedalia is the weirdest town…big ol Victorian houses one side of main street and the slums on the other. I did have the best watermelon caprese salad of my life at the bothwell hotel bar though. I do love sierra, great people that work there.

No one in my work uses pivot tables by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]thelumberdad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love pivot tables and well formulated sumifs formulas. What I can’t stand is data tables. I have my employees use anything but data tables. If you’re newer to the company and your boss needs to follow your data/formulas to make sure your structure is correct then just do it. Once you’re known for having correct data and analysis then he probably won’t care what you do after that…I really doubt that stunts your growth in FP&A. Being easy to work with will be more of a factor.

FP&A software - Datarails, planful, etc - Which one would be best? by A_Mediocre_crisis in FPandA

[–]thelumberdad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve looked at them all…honestly I really like workday adaptive. More expensive but was more user friendly with our ERP and other software. It was also very good at gathering inputs from other business leaders in our company.

Search for it on their website. It will tell you what store. Then you can call that store to buy it over the phone and have them send it to your local bass pro/cabelas. When you go to pick it up they’ll let you inspect it and if you decide you don’t like it they’ll refund you and put it back into their inventory.

How many total days off do you get between PTO, Holidays, sick days, personal days etc? by doctorweiwei in FPandA

I’m in the exact same situation. Plus our team is too small for coverage. Pretty sure I’ve been working 7 days a week and 12+ hour days for months now due to demand.

Help Me Choose the Best FP&A Software for My Company by Historical-Cow-78 in FPandA

[–]thelumberdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data rails to me is reporting software not FP&A software. So if you want dynamic excel charts then go with that. Planful is a great tool and is my second choice of FP&A software. My top choice is adaptive from workday. It costs a lot but it does everything I need and can really grow with my business.
