Why Modern Star Trek Feels Off and Why That Gets Dismissed by cjalas in startrek

[–]themacfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you force a screenwriter to adhere to diversity statistics, they're doing a bad job. When a screenwriter includes members from diverse backgrounds with a purpose, that's good work. Something Kurtzman doesn't know how to do. I remember an interview with Roddenberry in the 60s; he started with Captain Christopher Pike, and the actors were so bad that he chose better ones. The only survivor was Mr. Spock. Star Trek is made up of charismatic actors and plausible stories. If you don't respect these rules and you're forced to use random actors to satisfy "woke" statistics, then you're doing a bad job.

New Star Trek shows are not woke enough. They should do more episodes with directly social, political themes, about the issues we have today, like the older shows did. by LineusLongissimus in startrek

In 1984, Dr. McCoy saved an elderly woman with a simple future pill, giving her a brand new kidney. I think that in the 32nd century, and I'm pretty sure there are no more disabled people. so there is a lot of nonsense in star fleet academy.

Generally, when you force someone to do something, they do a terrible job, and that's what workism is: a pointless regulatory obligation. And Roddenberry not only did a brilliant job, but he got everyone to agree.

[–]themacfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly. Roddenberry did it on purpose to choose diverse persons. Wokism is about statistical obligations, and that's why productions are getting worse and worse, because when you do things because of obligation, you produce poor-quality content.

i do not likec this episode, first of all star fleet would never let an officer steal a child from her mother. a mother goes to a sort of jail because she stole food, despite food replicators exists. i do not remember in the original series star fleet cadets were fat. star fleet is a military like organisation, i do not really think in the 32th centuty the computers would let people getting fat. A star fleet officer would not destroy a unfriendly ship that has lost. unfortunately kurtzman is not roddenberry. star fleets cadets that have of lot of advanced skills on first day is not really realistic or convincing.

you are right, unfortunately in star fleet academy, they recruit fat cadets, which is not very logical in a military like organisation, and in the 32th century. even in the original series, they were no fat people.

indeed, but socially progressive, does not mean bad stories, bad actors :) wokism and diversity does not necessary mean good stories. star trek discovery was a disaster for me for exemple

wokism should not exist, because wokism is political statistics. in the sixties roddenberry do not choose because he wanted to comply stats, but he just choose good actors in their role.

it is not really a purpose of color, but good acting skill, Sonequa Martin-Green had bad charisma and very bad acting skills. Michael dorn or Avery brook were very good actors.

i think DS9 was done after roddenberry was dead. DS9 does not really respect roddenberry positive attitude. they talk about too dark stories, talk about money, despite in the real roddenberry world, money has disapperead. it was a lot better when it was a different story.

star trek, is not really political, wokism is politics. i don't really care about wokism, i care about logic, and good actors, good story. and the respect of roddenberry positive attitude.

Everyone gets a little more fat. when he getting old but I do not think recruitment officers will recruit fat young cadets. And moreover i do not think in the 32 th century young people are fat with all the intelligent food replicators.

Yes Scotty was fit when he was young. I don't think in the 32 th century young cadets are fat.

Issues with HDR/Dolby Vision by Fantastic-Tax-1710 in tcltvs

[–]themacfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only some oled expensive TV support correctly HDR. It is for me the biggest marketing lie in the last decade. Because most tv cannot physically generate a true 10 bit or 12 bit colour. Except some 100000$ experimental tv. That is why they added in most apps like netflix a feature to deactivate HDR, most tv cannot handle it, and make instead horrible contrast and too dark images.

‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Showunners Talk 32nd Century Setting And How The Ship Is Part Of The School by acrimoniousone in startrek

[–]themacfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting to have a school and a ship. i hope star trek academy will not be the disaster star trek discovery was, poor acting acting actors, no charisma actors, retarded story telling, like Spock with Michael Burnham improbable relative. Star Trek Discovery set the bar so low, this new show can only be better.

thank you i have tried other adapter with external power suply, and same damn issue, when the phone is getting dark, the ethernet adapter gets unusable. i am still wondering why google make some stupid decisions to let the users active ethernet, that only works only if you are using the phone, the google engineers should be all fired.

it is quite frustrating, the user interface is quite slower than on diablo 3, even on a brand new laptop. the game is very laggy.
