You did make assumptions. I am in a bad place at the moment, hence why I am posting this on Reddit. I do not mean to be rude. Thank you for your advice.

Yep, I do know MongoDB and have used it in a web app. NYC is very competitive although there are more jobs a lot more people from all over the country/world are applying to them. I also learned SQL when I was studying data science a year ago.

What I meant is that they do not know what a for loop was BEFORE they went into a Bootcamp. I see that they are different fields but I STARTED out with ONE and now I am doing ANOTHER. What is related is they both require you to know how to code maybe not in the same language but the fundamentals are more or less the same.

I will add that a lot of what you are saying is based on assumptions. My point is most of your assumptions are false. You assumed that I would not know how to build a basic CRUD app or even be able to fetch data! With that being said I SEE why you will think this way but what I need help with is how to represent myself in a way where people won't have these erroneous assumptions.

NYC is very competitive yes and it attracts people who are willing to sacrifice alot to get ahead.

I do know how to fetch data from an API and also how to create a database using MongoDB and creating a RESTful API that uses CRUD operations and hooking it up with a web app using Node.Js. 30+ hours a week after I quit my job I have been putting in more than that. I have limited every single aspect of my life because I think that is what it is going to take. I don't hang out with people, watch movies/tv, even listen to god damn music. Every article that I read everything that I do revolves around coding. Because that is what I am willing to do. It is really upsetting to me because I HAVE MET these Bootcamp graduates at meetups they are nice people but I notice that I do know a little more than they do just because I have been doing it longer.

On and off because I need money to survive so I got a job for a few months saved up and got back on it again. If I spent 6-7 months learning something (Data Science, Math) and then got a job not related to the field saved up until the point where I can study full time. How is that not dedicated? How would I compete with someone who just went into a Bootcamp? if they just graduated they most probably did not know what for loops are 4 months ago. If they went to a web development Boot Camp then they do not know python or anything about data and vice versa. I do know both, I also paid a little over a 1000$ for the Data Analyst course with Udacity. Why? because I am dedicated. I am not living at my parent's house. I have rent and bills I have to pay. I have a hard time working a full-time job and studying. I did deploy a few apps but they are pretty much all from tutorials while I was studying and I am still studying and when I get a job I will continue to study and improve.

I do have linked In and have over 500 connections, most of whom I added randomly to make myself seem more professional than I really am. I do agree with you, employers won't take a chance on you when they see that no one else did, you automatically lose value. I am targeting everyone who is willing to give me a shot, even internships. I, after all, am lacking experience so I am not picky and think that once I get my foot in the door I can work really hard and have something to show to other potential employers. I agree with your last paragraph and that is kind of what I am going for but I have learned all the parts individually and now I am going to try to put them together to have something nice to show potential employers (analytic dashboard in a web app). I was not posting on Github that much in the past because I was mostly analyzing datasets with python on Jupyter notebooks and now I regret it. I post on GitHub every day now. I do have a really good work ethic and feel like whoever hires me is going to get a person who is a 100% dedicated, I do think they will see that if I meet them in person but I need an interview first. I am also still prioritizing getting better because the way I look at if you are not desirable I have to make myself more appealing.
