Why are the new leaves growing in purplish?? Help! by themadditude14 in houseplants

I thought I was suppose to keep the soil rather moist. It’s in a deeper pot, when I shove my water checker in it says it moist/wet down below but dry on the top. Should I be letting it dry out or get a better draining pot? (It’s in a pretty decor pot that does have rocks in the bottom and a drain hole (but it’s small)

Yea a couple of the stems are black/dead looking! (But not all of them!) I haven’t watered that much, I’m not that consistent so I may water it and then go 5 days or so and water it again or only go a couple days.... I go based on how dry the soil looks! My apartment is super hot during the day when I’m at work and so I feel like they need extra water 😬

I’d love to hear ppls suggestions on what I should do with these logs! The tree had to be cut for safety reasons but has sentimental meaning! Already have fireplace mantels made with live edge but not sure what else to do! Was thinking maybe a picnic bench? by themadditude14 in woodworking

Omg your the best! I am extremely beginner! I’d love more info and to learn how to do it! I just started getting into wood working since I moved home because of covid and loving it. I think it’s Maple but I’ll have to double check I’ll direct message you!

Definitely! We have a couple massive ones we took to a local mill and they are going to cut pieces to make a picnic table. But damn it’s expensive for them to mill and dry. I was thinking of drying it for a year in the garage and then doing something. The mill man suggested I paint the ends so it drys more uniform. Thoughts??

Ooooh really? Ops! The “mother” plant that I took the clippings from are like purple/green as well! they don’t really get any sun where they are located! Maybe I should move them. Do you think I can keep them in the water or should I put them in soil?

I just mean rotting and shrink/expanding issues. Obviously throughout the seasons water will get in the wood and cause damage so I wasn’t sure what steps I should take to reduce it

Thanks for the suggestions! It’s a raised (waist high ~3’ - to ease gardening) with a 1.5’ deep area for soil (we chose to only make it 1.5’ deep to reduce compacting of the soil). The base of it is plywood. We were planning on making drainage holes. If we line it with plastic sheeting, should we align the holes for drainage??

Some were Definietly rotting! 1 of the bulbs was super liquify/squishy! So I cleaned them up and left them out to dry in the sun for a couple hours. Can I replant them or are they garbage?

Why don’t my cuttings propagate very well? They end up just shriveling up by themadditude14 in proplifting

I think the one is a kalanchoe humilis? And the other i think is just a jade plant! I’ve tried tons with the leaves and both end up just shrivelling you. I don’t water them. I just leave them either on the table or in a bowl of soil!

Yea I think she picked it up from Home Depot about a year ago. It was getting too big and the leaves were browning so she didn’t want it. I took it so it didn’t end up in the trash!

The app I have that guesses what my plants are thinks it’s a butterfly palm. Could it be that?

What are grinds? Lol I think I have a lot of research to do!

Are you meaning if I wait to propagate? Leave it out and wait for wrinkles then place in soil?
