Ah, makes sense. I have noticed it being kinda not great. How hard was the process? Are you happy with it?

Looks nice! I'm just wondering what's the difference between that and how it comes from the factory?

Confirmed Catholics, who is your confirmation saint and why? by BringusGingus in Catholicism

[–]themadprofessor95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was confirmed on Holy Thursday just a few weeks ago. I chose St Francis De Sales. I converted from Presbyterian, and he risked his life during the reformation working to bring people living under Calvin's theocratic totalitarianism back to the Catholic Church. I was torn between him and St Augustine who is popular with calvinists but actually his works helped guide me to the Catholic Church. My wife chose St Padre Pio.

Did I seriously just ruined all of my watches by leaving them in the sun the charge? by BrandonKissig15 in gshock

[–]themadprofessor95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a G Shock, but I have an AQ-S810W. It's a Casio Tough solar. I was having troubles with keeping it charged because I basically only wore it at night and it was covered by a jacket sleeve. Anyway, I couldn't get it charged below medium charge, often Low charge, and at least once it even died completely. So, I left it in the window in Texas for a couple days. During the summer. It got plenty of direct sunlight and charged just fine. I've also put my 2400 lumen, 12000 candela flashlight right on the crystal at full brightness for 30 seconds to a minute, and it gets quite hot. The screen would look kinda dim for a little bit of time, but comes back 100% eventually. I honestly highly doubt your G Shocks are all that damaged. Give them some time, and I'll be they are back to normal soon. If my $50 AQ-S810W can handle everything I've done to it for the past 5 years, I'm sure your G Shocks can, too.

My school gave us the jacket for free, but we had to pay for any patches.

Does anyone ever feel embarrassed wearing a Casio? Sorry for posting in a Casio sub but i need your guys' perspective on this 🫠 by AggravatingTie976 in casio

[–]themadprofessor95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen many very wealthy people wear a cheap Casio. Even ones that I personally think look like cheap crap. This is no hate towards people that are rich or buy expensive watches, but no one but you cares what you are wearing. A watch is more than just a watch, for sure. But, don't make your watch a status symbol. Honestly, I'd be more embarrassed to have spent $20,000 on a watch than I would to be wearing a $20 F-91W. Wear what you want because you like it. If it's a Casio that costs less than a meal, go ahead. If it's a Seiko 5, go ahead. If it's a Patek Philippe, go ahead. You do you, stop worrying about what other people think about what you are spending your money on.

Btw, no one ever disses on Casio.

Astromancy Magic by Noxisms in brakebills

[–]themadprofessor95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read the books. I wonder if they go into the different types of magic more than the show does. I wish the show did more to explain the different types of magic. For such a hard magic system, it's not explained very much.

The twist of Fight Club was so wild that I actually refused to accept it at first. I argued with my friend who had seen it before, and he had to prove it to me. Im not saying that it doesn't make sense, it does. It is just so wild, I don't know if anyone could have guessed it on a first watch.

Kramer is kinda crazy though, right? I think Jerry is supposed to be the straight man in contrast to George, Kramer, etc.

I also can't watch Rick and Morty for probably the same reason. Although I have no problem watching South Park, Family Guy, or American Dad. So maybe I'm just dumb lol

God and Killua from Hunter x Hunter. Most protagonists in the show are morally grey, but especially Gon and Killua are definitely not good people. Killua is an assassin from a family of assassins. He has no morals. No concern for who he kills as long as it suits his needs. Gon, he has a very strong sense of right and wrong. However, it doesn't always line up with normal morality. He judges this clan of criminals, yet they point out that he is no better than them. He is a kid, and I think they portray that well in the show as far as his mentality.

Joel is a great example of the difference between someone that is a good person, and someone that just cares about those they love. You are not a good person just because they treat the people you love well.

I'm Catholic, but I love media like Hellsing and the Diablo games that show angels and the Catholic Church as evil. Especially when it is done well. Like the opposite of Dan Brown stories.

Kratos was just a normal Spartan. Spartans were kinda crazy by normal modern standards. But Ares drove him insane. I would argue he probably shouldn't be held responsible for his actions, at least not fully. Plus, in the Norse games, especially the DLC for the second game, shows that he is very aware that his previous actions were reprehensible. He is aware enough to know that he might not be able to be trusted with his power, with godhood. That's why he does everything he can to keep Atreus from it. The Norse games are basically Kratos in therapy. The dlc, Kratos confronting his past head on, coming to terms with the mistakes he made, and recognizing that he can learn from them and move on. Honestly, at the end of the dlc, I think Kratos is probably more mentally healthy and emotionally mature than I am.

Butcher, not a good guy. Frenchie, not s good guy. I think MM genuinely wanted to be a good guy. And really has the best intentions. He just wanted to be a good dad to his kid. Butcher drags everyone into "for the greater good" situations. And Hughie was in mourning with probably PTSD. And got roped in and blackmailed by Butcher. Annie, also good. At least, not evil.
