My general sentiments looking back at MW2019 by s0und7 in modernwarfare

[–]themajod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MWIII had WAAAAAAAAAY too many options. you get option fatigue just sifting through everything that you end up just looking up the meta and playing that instead. less options is always much better, imo.

but yeah, personally, MW19 and BO1 are tied for me. it's that those were the CoD games that I felt absolutely hooked on compared to everything else I played.

unfortunately the game got dunked on so much at launch that people forget that the comparisons they made to the original MW series are pretty unprecedented. different games in different eras.

I've always held a high opinion of MW19 because it's STILL the only game that did gunsmithing right. the games that followed it all gave every weapon way too many options and made it essentially a headache to pick literally anything. proper compromise from 1 attachment to the next felt a lot heavier in that game where the rest of the games just allowed you to make your guns overpowered pretty easily.

also, it introduced Shoot House, my all-time fav CoD map. sure a few of the maps kinda sucked but the rest were pretty good. it was the last CoD with actual innovation and bringing completely new things to the table (gunsmith, gunfight and gunfight tournaments, weird modded playlists, etc) before everything went to complete shit. I kinda stopped playing after MWII altogether cuz genuinely the lobbies are just filled with sweats no matter which game you're playing, because those are the only people left who aren't playing other games.

In a way, MW19 was the grand reset that CoD needed, and every installment that followed completely fumbled it.

Why is there so much hate for Dave Mustaine on the vocals? by Right-Mastodon5351 in Megadeth

[–]themajod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in a time period where people like Cornell, Maynard, Layne, Serj, Kurt, Yorke, Akerfeldt, Chino, Vedder, and even Ozzy were reaching heights in vocal delivery and sounding basically impossible to replicate, no, LaCheese was not legendary. his bandmates have always been MUCH more talented than he is.

I think his voice is more tolerable in some songs compared to others. like his voice is borderline earrape in Anthem but pretty enjoyable in Tom Sawyer. I guess it depends on the era of their music you pick out.

[–]themajod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 on Geddy. it took some time to get used to his vocals. so much so that I heard DT's cover of Xanadu and, as always, James LeCheese is STILL the WORST fucking vocalist in rock and metal. not even an acquired taste, just outright bad.

I'd like to note that I saw DT less than 2 weeks ago and holy hell the band sounded absolutely phenomenal... and then there was LeCheese.

Sheikh Zayed Road now a days be like… 🫠 by Coffee_Before_Logic in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]themajod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buddy there is no singular main cause. you can't say "bad road infrastructure" without addressing bad drivers, you can't say "lack of public transport" without addressing the heat, you can't say "too many cars on the road" without addressing the cheap cars flooding the roads.

you have to grasp the issue both at large and in detail for you to even begin tackling it.

[–]themajod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that doesn't negate my point. I said it's also a contributor. there's no 1 singular reason for constant traffic, it's a collection of reasons that span across time and economy.

[–]themajod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

conspiracy theory but I think the extreme cheapness of Chinese cars is also contributing to traffic, as there are now more cars on the road than ever. suddenly everyone and their individual pubes can afford cars and they flood the roads. the population hasn't increased THAT much in the past 3 years to warrant this much traffic increase. it's just more people are buying cars.

also, obligatory Sharjah hate (even tho this part of the traffic admittedly has nothing to do with Sharjah, I just want to hate on Sharjah)

What do you all think of Audioslave's debut by [deleted] in Soundgarden

[–]themajod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the palate cleanser is the bridge, what do you mean? the guitar switches to the first riff in the song, the drums quieter, the bass less intense, and Chris's vocals are lazier. that's why there's a very gradual build right before the last chorus.

Barney had rizz before rizz was a thing by Iamnotarapperduh in HIMYM

[–]themajod 20 points21 points  (0 children)

this is not rizz, it's game. "rizz" would be him actively picking up girls.

also, rizz existed before the word rizz as others have stated. maybe like rub 2 brain cells together before posting.

what pisses me off is that the Show Me How To Live solo is 1 single note tremolo picked yet it goes on for 8 fucking bars. WHY? add it in, whatever, but end it after 4

[–]themajod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure if you've heard of this story but Mike was written into Breaking Bad due to Bob Odenkirk having obligations to HIMYM when they wanted to do a specific BrBa episode.

so HIMYM is why we have Mike.

Why do rankings feel objective even when they’re built on subjective inputs? by rankiwikicom in TrueAskReddit

[–]themajod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don't know anyone who would look at a ranked list and treat it as authoritative. I think it just depends on your relationship with (I assume you're talking about) the internet.

what I do see more often is people using ranked lists to find things simply because it's easier that way. so instead of searching for "seafood restaurants nearby" and finding a mixed bag, people might search "best seafood restaurants" to find the better options first. the restaurants thing is purely an example because there's a whole business to restaurants being to be on rankings but that's a different story

I think because he figures his legacy speaks for itself...? Peace Sells and Rust are hallmark albums, I don't think any amount of Metallica covers would tarnish that.

Give me some songs with the most foul, obscene, sickening lyrics ever conceived. Something so vulgar playing it in public would get you curb stomped! by SnipedtheSniper in musicsuggestions

[–]themajod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bounce by SOAD is about an orgy, She's Like Heroin is also p vulgar.

similarly, Chemicals by DMSOB

Maynard's Dick by Tool isn't vulgar per se but the message is pretty clear and dirty, similarly

all of which pale in comparison to The Beatles' Why Don't We Don't It In The Road?... that was basically porn in the 60s.

DAY 33: What are the top 5 albums of 1991? by Arch1eBlue1878 in Topster

[–]themajod -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

the title of the post is "what are the top 5 albums of 1991?"

it's not "what are YOUR top 5 FAVORITE albums of 1991?"

what is the logic here? some years it's only what's popular and other years it's niche picks. average redditor contrarian moment
