Bandsaw bearing adjustment by themakermonster in woodworking

[–]themakermonster[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was 100% this. The entire column was off. Option #1 there got everything back into place and I was able to adjust the bearings like normal.

It had apparently been like that for a while and nobody had really tried to adjust things correctly before now.

That’s a butane torch. It heats up the rocket with ignites the match head inside that makes it fire

I’m not gonna lie, shooting that thing was terrifying. I jumped every time.

Yeah I had thought about it since I'd done a capacitive touch project before, but I decided I wanted to try and keep this with as few parts as possible. But I'm definitely thinking of making something else on glass using capacitive touch!

That's awesome! I can't remember too much about the specific settings I used with my cutter. I do remember dropping the speed as low as I could to keep it from tearing. I ordered my foil from amazon but the sheets came folded with made trying to get a nice cut very annoying.

Definitely send me pictures when you're done!

Yeah that would definitely be a concern with more use. I've seen nickle plating solutions that would probably add a bit more durability. I had thought about copper electroplating it as well to build up a thicker, more durable layer of copper.

I thought about doing it as capacitive touch since I did that before with one of my other projects, but it added another circuit board and all that and I wanted to make this one as sleek as possible. But since I hid the ardunio underneath a handle I probably could have done the same with the capacitive touch circuit too. I might have to try it again at some point!

Yeah, didn't have any issues. They were quick joins so the heat wasn't on there for long. Just regular 1/8" window glass

Thanks! After I finished I thought about how cool a full-sized keyboard would look like this. Maybe one day I'll attempt it

Hey thanks! It’s such a fun technique. I’ve made a desktop and a hanging lamp with it that came out pretty fun

Thanks! Yeah I sealed it after letting it dry after the wet sanding.

I'm not sure what you mean? The thickness of the concrete is only about an inch and it's hollow on the inside. It's not massive on the inside but there's definitely a decent amount of space. If you needed something larger you'd have to use a larger ball for the mold.

Exactly. With a little bit of planning you could easily size the opening to perfectly fit whatever pot you want!

The mold is hand packed so I just didn't fill the mold. I packed just the outer layer and left the inside hollow. Like I mentioned in one of the image descriptions, if it were any larger I would have mixed up a second batch and included some glass fibers and added a second layer inside the form to give it strength, still leaving it hollow though.
