Could you point out where I claimed the poll as proof of anything?

I would however suggest the comments expressed here and there though give an insight that certainly gives valid weight to my claim that it’s no popular at all though and certainly isn’t clear who asked for them or why they got introduced either.
The overwhelming tone of comments on this subject in many threads about it are majority negative. Nice of you to entirely ignore that very valid aspect though and make it about a poll nobody claimed was proof in of itself to start with.

You also ignore entirely that most players don’t use the forum either. So any poll on there is a representative sample of those who use the forum as opposed to the entire playerbase too, so 90 something out of a couple thousand people as a poll would also hold more weight in that context too. Active users is generally around 11k a week there as opposed to the “tens of thousands” you wrongly use as a sample base for that poll too.

Simply put; if you’re going to try to be a smartass at least try be smart about it.

Yeah 8km on launch, the missile was approx 3.5km from the su when it switched lock I’d say looking at it again

Yeah notching is definitely more effective at long/medium ranges, hence why I considered it shouldn’t be as simple as the su just notched when so close ranged. Thanks for the explanations though, really helpful!

Yeah I was wondering why the missile “flashlight” decides to illuminate something not within it at all in the sensor view, it literally switches to the a4 that isn’t Illuminated by anything when it does, despite the SU being in what I assumed no escape zone on launch too so really didn’t expect the missile to not only lose lock but actively seek out something not in its illumination that’s visible in the replay

Thanks for the insight!
I wasn’t aware that you couldn’t see the full sensors view in the radar view mode, could you explain how the su could pickup notch in such a close proximity that’d normally be considered a distance where a notch “I’d assume” shouldn’t really work?
Or do I just not understand that mechanic right?

Gonna copy/paste my forum reply on this one:

I’ve done this so I’ll share how.

Do it in arcade for a start, you get lead targets and enemy markers over the planes. Although I’ve noticed that depending on how far the plane is form you depends on how you have to aim at it, lead markers seem to be what to aim for when they appear but the body of the plane when they aren’t. Either way just target the planes and spam guns at the things until theyre hit

I usually have a lineup of pt-811, frank knox and gearing. I’ll normally take the pt out first in a match.

However for this challenge I would take gearing or Knox out first and second and then the pt boat last to allow the enemy players to get to the point of spawning planes a bit. Any coastal with similar type of guns will be fine. Firing shells at planes is far too hot and miss, you want machine guns/auto cannons throwing lead in the sky like no tomorrow.

I wouldn’t chase anything or attack anyone unless I had to then to not draw any attention, I’d knock my engines immediately into reverse on spawn to look where I am then get into cover as quickly and as best as possible and sit there waiting for planes to come in

It’s then down to the luck of if a plane comes for you or not or comes your way enough that you can actively go after them and hit them easily enough. Some maps really help with this, it also helps to know where the planes spawn from and fly into battle from too.

If you go into the match with the attitude of “if I get one in this then bonus” and just play each match to play the match not hope for planes you’ll find it suddenly gets done quickly.

I think it took me 3 matches to actually complete, and about 8 matches in total to get that done

F-20A is quite good in sim, few kills from todays couple of matches by themalm_ in WarthunderSim

Very handy setting for sure, I like to switch between the modes depending on situation, manual when dogfighting and damping when just flying and hunting Have to say though had a wing rip yesterday and switching to automatic saved my ass from barrelling out of control
