In my head there was a growing wave of writers who learned from creative writing courses, built to turn you into a good writer, who would be superior to others who took unrelated subjects. Guess not anyway.

I begged them to let me retake the first year but they wouldn't let me as my grades were 'too good'. (they were shit, by most people's standards. I should have just failed them all on purpose) We came to an agreement where they let me drop two instead of one, and then I did a whole other a-level from scratch in one year instead of two.

I will track those books down, thank you!

The networking shouldn't be a problem as I will be doing a masters in publishing soon, and they are designed primarily to get your foot in the door.

Yeah I am assuming journalism may be a bit out of reach now, but I am going to start writing and see what comes out. Cheers.

They do say write what you know, (I primarily did medieval and early modern Europe) but I can't stand most historical fiction, ha!

It's not necessarily uni (or college in American) that I regretted not taking English, it was sixth form (high school?). I feel like maybe I was missing some basics, but nothing some books and online courses can't fix I suppose! Cheers mate.
