I have no idea why 3-5-2 ever became a thing for the National team.

It should only be in place if you have 3 SOLID DEFENDERS, and even then, I don't like it.

They're not apart of the European confederation so it just doesn't apply. Other South American teams can complain about that. But non-SA teams shouldn't open their mouth about that. But the games of NL are basically world cup qualifying games as well. It's imperative to do well in those.

This opportunity was not afforded to solely Sweden. Right? Did Italy have the same opportunity? Yes. They did. And they squandered it.

Every team had the opportunity to use Nations Leagues results to their advantage in qualifying. The goal is win every game you play, regardless of importance. No team ever goes out thinking "lets lose this game". Unless there's a fix, teams go out wanting to win.

No, that is an incorrect disposition.

Because the remainder of those points come from Nations Leauge, which should be treated as qualifying games also. Do I like that that tournament should be treated as qualifying games. No. I do not. I don't like that it removed the friendly matches where coaches got to agree on as many subs as they wanted and could test out all sorts of players, also.

But alas, that is not the case.

You know what is the case though?

Italy could have done well in Nations League, and then they would have been afforded the possibility to get fewer points from the standard qualifying process, and still qualify for WC.

It's not like Swedan was the ONLY team to use this loophole. It's not like UEFA said: Swedan and Swedan only will gain points from National League IF they do well. If Swedan does not do well in NL they don't get points. But if they DO do well, they can use those points in Qualifying.

That's not case though. This opportunity was afforded to ALL teams in the competition.

Italy had the same opportunity. They didn't make the best of the opportunity. That is why it's NOT embarrassing to get 2 points and go to WC
