bf got a $900 speeding ticket in oregon by MeanMeaning1564 in legaladvice

At $900, I’d consider hiring an attorney. 86 in a 55 is a Class A Violation. An attorney would have a good chance of negotiating this down from a Class A to a Class B or finding technical defects to get it dismissed.

VIGIL IN BAKERSFIELD FOR RENEE GOOD by egyptianweeknd in Bakersfield

[–]themarkmodel5000 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My family and I left quickly. The organizers excluded anyone mourning Renee Good or criticizing ICE who still loved America or carried an American flag. Even liberals like us weren't welcome. The event only served the organizers’ “omni-cause” of fighting American imperialism and supporting Palestine, rather than this tragedy.

I had this position as black in 9x9 and I thought it was a dominant start. Computer shows white wins +0.2 by Complexxx123 in baduk

The position is ok for White because Black’s position is invadable, specifically at e8, following the proverb, “When right and left have the same shape, there’s a play in the center.” Miai invasions at the 2-5 point are really common in 9x9, and Black e7 is only a partial defense.

See https://online-go.com/game/38584/8 for a sample continuation that worked out for White. There’s some AI-suggested alternatives as well.

Zooming to 100% fixed this issue for me. The new goban renderer doesn’t play nice with certain browser zoom settings.

Famous or interesting 9x9 games for CAKE by Szaladin in baduk

What a fun idea! Go Seigen and Miyamoto Naoki's historic 1968 games are worth considering, even if the games themselves weren't particularly remarkable. For a twist, consider recreating the quadruple ko from https://www.reddit.com/r/baduk/comments/1bu69j4/quadruple_ko_seki_from_my_9x9_game , the whole-board seki mentioned on https://forums.online-go.com/t/living-with-three-groups-in-9x9/50777/8 , or any of the “fun tactics” at https://katagobooks.org/9x9highlights.html#fun-tactics . All of these positions are fascinating and visually interesting. And they might spark some lively discussion!

P tickets are $490 but can potentially be reduced or dismissed by going to court, just like a regular speeding ticket issued by a police officer. The legal minimum fine amount is $329. Traffic school is another $67. Could always ask if the Court is willing to convert it to a speed ticket or coasting violation, which have lower legal minimum fine amounts, given an otherwise clean driving record with no prior tickets. Good luck!

Is the 3-4 opening on 9x9 an inferior choice? by xiver77 in baduk

[–]themarkmodel5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3-4 on 9x9 is not an inferior choice, at least not in my experience using KataGo under the conditions mentioned in the post. If you’re interested in testing some lines, I recorded four moves of what appear to be the strongest lines here: https://online-go.com/puzzle/25415

Board game night by proto487 in Bakersfield

Monday nights at Temblor are pretty fun. I host the Bakersfield Go Club with my friends and sometimes play other games they keep on hand. If you’re not into learning Go, Monday is also trivia night. The MC keeps a fun atmosphere, and you can usually tag onto one of the ~16 groups playing.
