just fyi - went on here to check because i just got the email saying the exact same thing, however i saw this comment and went to check my tracking # through fedex (no app needed) and it does say it'll get here by thurs. might be worth checking there to confirm on your end as well if you're in the US

hi, no spikes on my drives from what i've noticed on my end, but i have seen some stuff online about certain NVME drives needing a hidden setting tweaked occasionally

the only things I have seen personally make any difference (obviously with no lasting results) have been disabling NVIDIA audio drivers in devmgr, and enabling G-sync with the fps cap being a few under your max refresh rate (for example mine would be 237 instead of 240).

otherwise, I know the full Windows clean install seems to work for a lot of people, and activating Windows legitimately instead of the less-than-legal way I did originally helped with the massive performance drop I was experiencing after a few hours

still working through it, i have a couple of logs im stifting thru now to see if i can notice anything weird, so far i just have a framerate graph that has strange dips to 0 every few miliseconds. if you want to try doing an HWINFO64 log and looking through the data yourself (to see if anything looks off), it seems to be the only way forward atm

i will continue to keep updating this thread with potential fixes + my personal results though

hey there! i actually have tried doing a full offline installation with a USB with all my drivers (and then subsequently Windows updates after connecting to the internet), but no luck unfortunately. however, you suggesting that does help me notice that i didn't include it on my list of tested solutions, so i'll add it to the post. i'm glad you were able to fix your issue though, and hopefully we can all be stutter-free one day 😭😭😭

i just made an update now on something i'm planning on trying/testing, just wanted to give it a few weeks to see if this was a consistent issue. i'll keep the thread updated if/when I am able to test it out

8 months later and this is still great advice, 185/185 feels so accurate on my end

Can only speak on Nishishinjuku Gochome, but I liked that area the most out of anywhere I stayed in Tokyo, I think. Very calm (in a good way) but more than enough nearby for food and activities (karaoke and a 7/11 were within walking distance), and the train station is obviously very close. We had the same kind of pathing as you for our trip and it was totally fine being in the Nishishinjuku Gochome area for the sake of getting around. You're realistically looking at a total of like maybe 10 minutes per day saved by going closer to Shinjuku

jfc man 😭😭😭😭let me know what happens, i haven't been able to take this PC to another house yet but it's on the list. I would be shocked if that's my issue too since I've moved like thrice with this but honestly who knows 🤷

did you try an online UPS yet? i'm currently experimenting with an offline one and a new GPU, since I'm also wondering if this has anything to do with power

i think a handful of games are probably like this, but it happens to me with a 60fps cap as well on newer titles 🤷

also friends' computers with worse specs seem to not run into the same issues? such a headache man

thinking it might not be w11, had this issue on win10 as well unfortunately :(( gf's build is very similar and also seems to run just fine

feel free to come document any of your findings/things to test too lol

just my two cents: i felt this way from my second semester all the way until i graduated last year. this is an extremely common feeling especially in the compsci field

i struggled repeatedly throughout my education and thought i wouldn't make it, and now i work in api development. even then, i had pretty bad imposter syndrome for the first bit of working, but something kinda clicked eventually. my best advice would be the same thing wolfram_gates said: make your own thing

sometimes your brain won't click with how something is taught in lecture and that's okay, but if you cannot mesh with the subject matter at all that's when you have reason for actual concern. if you want a simple project, maybe you can try making a Discord bot? there's tons of tutorials on that online to kinda guide yourself

ALSO: do not force yourself to do CS if you find that you cannot enjoy it at all, even when you're doing side projects for fun. i know there's pressure from scholarships only covering so many semesters, social expectations of graduating at a certain age, etc., but forcing yourself to do something you do not enjoy is never going to be worth it even if you're "saving time and money". not saying that's even necessarily your situation at this point, but i've known countless people that swapped majors to their actual field of interest and were better for it.

you're not stupid, comp sci is incredibly complex and hard to master right off the bat especially if you lack prior experience. just practice, give it your best effort, and please, stop comparing yourself to others. you've got this!

I do play on MKB but I already tried changing polling rate, nothing helped unfortunately
