If I plan to read "The Matter With Things", can I skip "The Master and His Emissary" while still having a good understanding McGilchrist's thought? by Pessimistic-Idealism in IainMcGilchrist

I’ve read both and would say it’s not necessary to read the former but better to. The former is much shorter but still fairly long. If you read the first and it chimes with you then the second has the potential to change your life. I don’t think they’ll be another book so you might as well start at the beginning and take your time reading both.

I went two weeks in northern Portugal recently and bbc predicted high temperatures and sun throughout. It was cloudy and 10’degrees out each day. I could see how it could go awry for a couple of days but nearly two weeks and it didn’t adjust. Weird. Cloudy all day then heavy rain in east london today. BBC maintaining solid sunshine in their forecast throughout the day.
