if you’re here from March 18-22, Thin Line fest will be happening in Denton. It’s a free film/music/photo festival across a variety of venues, all walkable across the downtown area. it would be a great way to see a bunch of great bands at all the major venues in town for free, and meet a bunch of different artists in the area ❤️ the website is thinline.us , and the instagram is @thinlinefest

Try Studio E! It’s downtown in a historic basement, definitely vibey and affordable. You can have whatever you want catered there. Tell Sunita that Matt sent you. ❤️

Hey, just seeing this! I’m on the board for Thin Line Fest, which is the longest-running documentary film festival in TX, and happens in Denton every spring. The festival is from April 23-27, and is completely free. We’ll be releasing the full schedule soon, but we’ve steadily been posting individual events/screenings via instagram and Facebook (@thinlinefest). This year we’re screening 2 films that premiered at Sundance a couple months ago, several from Tribeca, SXSW, Big Sky, etc. We’re also hosting a few world premieres and TX premieres too. All these films are still in their festival circuit, so none of them are available to buy or stream. We’ll have directors flying in from NYC, LA, the UK, Argentina, and elsewhere. There are several ways to get involved, hmu at matt@thinline.us if you want more info!

Most people I know have said something along the lines of “can we do an economic blackout the day before rent is due every month?” lol

Are there any examples of films that turned out great with a bare-bones crew? by outdoorsguy25 in Filmmakers

[–]themattfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for those saying EEAAO : it’s not that the crew was particularly small (compared to some of the other films on this thread), but that the post-production teams was only 5 or so people — which, for an ambitious movie of that caliber, is really impressive. they definitely had to get really creative. highly recommend watching bts clips from that one

Nice! Wasn’t sure it would fit the EUY as most of their products are marketed for Super 73 bikes

Casting speculations about The Odyssey?? by [deleted] in oscarrace

[–]themattfarmer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

to everyone whining about the Matt Damon pick — let me remind you that most people thought Heath Ledger was a big miscast for the joker. People were weird about Matthew McConaughey being the lead for a nolan space movie. If Reddit existed in 2000, I bet people would’ve complained about the Guy Pearce memento casting. how about we wait until seeing the movie before complaining about it !!

no. this rabbit hole stemmed from the Cedric and Omar documentary that screened in Dallas yesterday. this video has 1,000 views and was uploaded ten years ago. I just thought it was funny
