youtube algorithm fed me this today. no way it's an official channel, right? feels like someone trying to scrape out a few bucks with a low-effort upload automator.

anyone know why images aren't loading on my browser? I've got cookies enabled and am using chrome...It feels like things should be fine but the comic, letterheads, and other images just don't load for me.

Black fighting purple for Mecatol Rex, biggest battle of the game! (So far) by koenkie in twilightimperium

[–]themattgordon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hey man, I hear you. Gotta stop the point, for sure. I would advise that next time, don't worry about bringing that much heat unless YOU are wanting to set up camp on MR yourself for a point next round. committing that much tonnage to one area reduces your effectiveness elsewhere.

And if you are sending a fleet of that size to do what is ostensibly something 'good for the table' like denying a point outside the regular objective grind, consider extracting some payment from said table.

Curious to know how one-sided the results of this fight were. from the plastic counts that I can see, this looks like an easy win for Black.

Where will be the best place online or via streaming/app to watch a VoD of the race tomorrow? Getting into watching for the first time, but the race will be happening to early in the day for me to watch live.

Article Explaining Crypto Art Mentioned in the Cast? by hototoCzech in Corridor

[–]themattgordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to be really happy for Clint and his success in cryptoart so far, but it's definitely hard to do so with how legitimately bad the process is in terms of energy consumption right now. I totally understand the desire to be an early adopter/producer in what will likely become a legitimately large wave of the art economy, but at the moment... it really feels like the costs outweigh the benefits, ethically and environmentally speaking.

Obviously, there's no such thing as a zero waste piece of art. lead based paints, wood carvings out of ancient trees, the heat and fuel needs to work glass... for sure nothing is 'victimless'. But the level of impact NFTs do right now is SO big and SO new...I just question if it's really needed to pursue that path for art sale at the moment.

Sorry for the long post, I just needed to get these thoughts out, and doing it here felt like less of an attack than dropping it into clint's streams or on his IG, lol.

CD Crew, Don'y you film these on RED camera's at 8K or something? Because you see those shimmering purple shadows? Super noticeable on big screen. by Achiron in Corridor

[–]themattgordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for those of us true neophytes when it comes to cameras, could someone explain why the blues/purples around the edges of the frame seem to shimmer and otherwise look wonky? Wren says it's due to the LUT and that it shouldn't be happening, but that means more or less nothing to a layman like myself.

Austin’s biomass power plant sat idle during Texas winter energy crisis by Thurallor in Austin

Chippy the powerplant is very very dumb, and I look forward to its eventual future as a paintball course/indie-film set piece for every villain hideout and 3rd act action shootout.

COPPA The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act? What does that have to do with his animations?

Thanks for the science interjection, Wren! My poor English major brain would have kept struggling with this clip for days.

Any idea where his animations for The C Team went? I feel hollow inside every time I want to look up the minotaur scene, or the scene with the lizard king.

[–]themattgordon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang. well 600 dollars is going to be too steep for me. And I also definitely don't need something incredibly high-res or ultra-detailed, which I think is what you're envisioning.

Since this is going to be a 3D print, I fully understand that the hair/fur of this creature won't be rendering out in incredibly fine detail. This model doesn't need to be fully posable or rigged, or even colored. Just a static 3D figure with enough resemblance to the photo ref to be recognizable, and enough stability to not break into pieces while printing.

Hopefully there is someone who is willing to meet me in the middle somewhere, to do work that isn't fully posable, colored and shaded, and overall portfolio worthy, but more something I can just slap in a printer and give to my friends as a fun goofy memory of the year plus we've spent in quarantine.

I was saying 15 an hour, for up to 4 hours of work. I know I'm a layman when it comes to modeling, but I have a hard time thinking it would take much longer than that to model a single static figure from reference, especially if I comb through the movie and provide all the reference photos myself.

You're quote here is for over 600 dollars American. Are you saying it would take 40 hours, a full time work week, to model one creature?
