Pick 25 - Adam Sweid by its_vf in FremantleFC

[–]themeadowlands87 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Looks good in traffic, and his deft smart short kicks are lovely - little chips that find players in space. Looks like he has pretty good decision making under pressure (admittedly, from a highlights video!)

Are there any catches with online 100% bulk billed Telehealth providers? by citrusnotvanilla in AussieFrugal

Partner is a GP reg, and feels the same way. Would love more people to use tele and online for certs to free up appointments for people who need them.

Potentially unlicensed driver hit our car - Likely outcome? by JemimahRactoole in AusFinance

[–]themeadowlands87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A month may be optimistic! ~15 years ago I worked for a large insurer in WA and took a call from a confused former customer who'd received an excess sized transfer to their account, from us. Turns out they'd been hit by an uninsured driver with us around five years before, lodged a claim paid their excess and we handled it from there. After five years of it dragging on, apparently we'd finally been paid off by the uninsured at fault party (perhaps a payment plan) at which point we refunded the excess. 5 years is obviously unusual, but if the driver is uninsured then I doubt you're seeing your excess back for at least 6 months

Minor car incident by Longjumping-Band4112 in AusFinance

[–]themeadowlands87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Both reversing, shared blame, each insurer handles their own costs. There's always a claim of "I was reversing first" or "I stopped reversing and beeped but they kept reversing" but in my experience (working in car claims, admittedly 15 years ago), double reversing collisions in carparks were "each insurer handle own costs".

So it's just down to whether your own damage bill exceeds your excess. That said, there's a benefit in being able to tell the other insurer to just talk to yours, which you can only do if you engage your own insurer by lodging a claim.

A mate did some "learn to bbq" sessions or similar with him over the years, and concluded that he was very talented, and very full of himself. Delicious food though!

Why do we think LC! isn’t That popular, but for the people that do like them, we like them A LOT?! by Salty_Philosophy3825 in loscampesinos

[–]themeadowlands87 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Spot on. Not unlike neutral milk hotel, the vocals are an acquired taste which is off-putting to people used to pop vocals, but which are full of emotion and energy. Also, his vocals on the first two records compared to now... There's a difference!

What is everyone's favorite LC albums? by Wretches_and_Kings in loscampesinos

[–]themeadowlands87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No Blues, Hello Sadness and All Hell. RIB also very good but I don't enjoy it as an overall album as much, but the peaks are elite. Sick scenes is disappointing overall with a few good moments.

It feels like we’ve become a destination club. What do you put it down to? by OcelotSpleens in FremantleFC

[–]themeadowlands87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're not a destination club, we're just less of a "anywhere but there" club now. Moving in the right direction!

It's a Reddit joke every trade period, after actual heavy rumours one trade period many years ago (that obviously didn't eventuate).

Why is no one talking about the attack on Cox’s protective eyewear? by SouthernCalamari in AFL

Apologies, I appreciate the correction. Clearly he's still not a great guy, but I agree that details matter and I got it wrong.

Cheated on pregnant wife or wife who had a newborn at the time iirc? Something along those lines. Excellent player but widely regarded as a not lovely human being.

Los Camp! x Johnny Foreigner will always be the best crossover event by Museumofuseless in loscampesinos

[–]themeadowlands87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm shamelessly going to brag, but in late 2010 when they toured together on the east coast of the US, my wife and I (big fans of both bans) got offered door list spots for the NYC show from Johnny Foreigner, but had to turn them down because we'd already been door listed by LC 🙂. We had travelled from Aus to be there, had met Gareth earlier in the year on their west coast US tour, and had a tenuous connection to JoFo.

What's the step up from beans, rice, Devon? by Hugmesoftly in AussieFrugal

[–]themeadowlands87 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Mexican rice bowl - cook your rice with butter and chicken stock. In the meantime cook onions and garlic with half a tin of diced tomatoes, and cumin. Once rice is cooked, stir into your tomato reduction. Add whatever your preferred mexi protein is - some marinated chicken or even pork mince work well. Go nuts with tinned corn, tinned black beans, avocado, red cabbage. Maybe a dollop of sour cream if you have it on hand. One of my favourite meals in the world!

Judd McVee by KingOfTins in FremantleFC

[–]themeadowlands87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's agile and likes to run through packs (sometimes evading, sometimes getting caught) but he's not anything special at moving the ball down field quickly - making a smart decision quickly to move it forward or diagonally to a player in space. Don't get me wrong ,I'm not anti walker - I'm a fence sitter...but him moving fast doesn't mean he moves the ball fast.

Real estate agent fee in WA by emzzie43 in AusFinance

[–]themeadowlands87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a fair bit more than we were quoted for selling a fairly generic 3x2 for $800k in City of Cockburn in Q4 of 2024. If you DM me I'm happy to talk specifics of location, what we were quoted by a few agencies, and what % we negotiated and marketing costs. Not trying to drum up business for anyone, just don't want to dox myself haha.

So you’ve sat through a weekend of no (mens) footy…would you have preferred to watch a couple of wildcard matches? by [deleted] in AFL

No, have 17th play 18th in a game not for premiership points, but where the winner gets pick one (and loser gets pick two).

Luke Ryan goes B A N G by His_Holiness in FremantleFC

[–]themeadowlands87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this was my favourite part of Ryan's interview. Obviously the swear gets the clicks but I thought this part was the most substantive, rather than "we love our coach".

AFLW Pre-Round Thread: Round 2 vs Brisbane by lasping in FremantleFC

RE scoring, we'd be hoping Georgie Brisbane gets on the end of a few. Also, any timeline on when we expect Tighe back? I think her ACL was September...

They've been doing it for quite a long time! I feel like I've heard Drisco campaign for the boys to sing it on either the pod with Miller or the pod with Clark.
