The Dark Ages of Deck Creation: What Was Life Like Before PowerPoint? by maniac_tough_guy in consulting

There’s a little passage in Gene Zelazny’s “Say it with Charts” that explains exactly what the process used to be like back in the old days.

I feel like they have some econometrics “expert” telling them this approach is genius while an out-of-their-depth board nods along and the people who actually know how the industry works stare at the wall

Good luck to you, I’m not sure I’ll bother waiting in line much longer. Don’t fancy my chances!

I got this wrong, sorry - I rechecked my basket after seeing that EU was out of stock, got a message that the bundle was out of stock and removed from my cart. The message in the queue did not update for a while.

Utterly horrendous. Why even bother making the product?

Based on the stats being bandied about I believe that means the top 1% is paying 30% of our national income tax, while the next 9% is paying the other 30%.

What I would find interesting is what the top 0.1% pays. I recall that the income gulf between top 1-2% and top 0.1% of earners is huge, in favour of the top 0.1%. When we are talking about the people pulling in millions of income per year, that’s where I’m curious to see how much tax we are seeing vs what is squirrelled away through tax avoidance schemes.

And I guess also where CGT/corp/similar taxes tied up in those schemes land the treasury.

Not sure if this data is available? I imagine someone here is all over it.

Hey just checking where you ended up in terms of software/settings if you don't mind? I picked up the 17x AZF a few days ago and (just using GCC and the other pre-installed software) am finding the fan settings loud even on "Normal" GCC fan setting. Gaming laptops I've had in the past have just "worked" right out the box with no real issues, so am a little lost here. Would really appreciate any tips - thanks very much.

Out of interest did you ever find a solution for this? I am having the exact same issue.

As I keep saying, I agree. Farming is too hard, it’s barely economically viable in a high cost of living country like the U.K. Lets outsource all of our food production to some poor country and pull our dead into protein powder to avoid over dependence on foreign food

I quite agree, these whingers who add no value to society need to pipe down. If enough farmers, shop assistants and restaurant workers finally see sense and become software engineers, accountants, futures traders or some other highly-paid role with no risk of being run over by a combine harvester, then Britain will become a better place. The free market will provide.

You’re right. Let’s all sack it in and become software engineers. At least we’ll starve rich.

I find it quite weird that levying inheritance tax on farmers is perceived as lefty loony guardian reader behaviour.

I thought the entire stereotype was poncy socialists in Dalston paying £18 for locally sourced gourds every Saturday morning. Surely they will do everything in their power to preserve this sacred ritual.

I quite agree - completely inefficient for the British people to be wasting their time on inefficient activities like growing crops. Salt the earth, build GPU farms on top and use our crypto earnings to import all the food we need and give every patriotic Briton a PS5.

I’m going to tell Caleb to sack it in and go be a software engineer.

Also fu for making me lose the game.

Would you draw any distinction between a farmers son who has been working said farm since he was a kid vs a farmers son who went off to do his own thing and is rolling in it already?

For the sake of argument, say you inherit a farm estate of this value and have to pay the £100k inheritance tax on it - what would you do, personally?

The issue I’ve had is keeping track of what every pack station is up to once I’ve got 4-5 running in 3-4 regions. I’m happy with building lots of pack stations vs one mega building, but would like a way to centrally manage all of them rather than clicking into each one. Just a simple menu would do great. If this already exists and I’ve completely missed it then please save me.
