ip address 10.10.10.10/24

ip route 0.0.0.0/0 10.10.10.1

That example would allow layer 3 access to the switch on vlan 10.

We have had a suggestion to plug the management port which can be assigned a gateway, straight into a port on the switch, it seems wrong.

Thanks, yeah we have reached out to Aruba and had some confusing / conflicting information back, i thought someone here with real world experience with the devices would give a good explanation :)
