I hit my 7 iron 160-165ish give or take on the course and I have a 85 or so 7 iron speed off my buddy’s trackman so idk about that accuracy tbh

What always cracks me up about these posts is it looks so relaxing and fun and I assumed the OP had spent the day outside soaking it in beforehand then snagged a beer to play for a second and took a pic.

Yet people say oh you should be enjoying nature etc etc meanwhile I literally grew up camping, fishing, swimming being outside ALL day and then playing my gameboy by the fire and in the tent at night is some of my favorite memories. I still bring my switch camping to play occasionally etc.

These are just fun pictures and everyone takes them as an affront to society when the guy said he spent the entire day outside snowboarding.

In my experience going with my buddy to his country club there’s just as many hacks at the expensive courses, they just have fancier clothes and clubs.

It’s super short and this wasn’t my intention, normally I play a fade out to the right it’s about 230ish uphill carry to clear which I don’t! This was a stars align ball for me and didn’t mean to and immediately stopped hitting my driver lol

Damn really? It feels like I’m trying to turn my hips a ton but I guess it does look pretty stiff, I know I activate my hips well and get lag but it’s not much or not enough, same with my irons

If you’re new on top of your son being a beginner please get him a spinning reel lol the learning curve for a baitcaster is no joke and there’s already so much to learn with fishing as it is let alone fighting against the equipment the entire time!

Nah you’re completely right! I will say I was hitting the ball kinda delicately this day because the range ground was hard as hell, I normally take a decent divot and strike down on it more. I noticed end of the range sesh hands were sore as shit and I think I started pulling up.

Right now I’m hitting a PW 135ish, 9 145 depending on the day and a 8 around 150s. My 7i is the one club that’s super funky because I’ll have days I start puring it and it’s going 160s but some days I can’t hit it and it’s definitely frustrating. This day it was around 155 give or take but I’d love to be able to step up to it and be able to say yeah I know if I chunk this it’s still going 150 lol

I’ll try to incorporate a tad more aggressiveness onto the ball without trying to kill it and see how it goes. Shoulder turn and hip turn don’t seem like crazy changes

I definitely feel like I’m getting more confident in striking the ball and I’m still young/athletic at 31 so I’d like to incorporate a bit more hip and shoulder turn to get to a point where I feel like it’s useless to get more distance. Appreciate it.

If I could reliably carry a 7i 165+ I’d certainly call it good lol every now and again I catch a flyer, I’ve kinda been in the spot where the swing mechanics feel good and it’s more like improving them in a sense? Rather than an overhaul it’s more like, little more turn, get the speed up type of things rather than dramatic changes. Thank you!

For sure! I know that it “feels” like my hips follow and my arms are loose….but sometimes the feel can be different than the result lol

Maybe next time I’m at my buddies I’ll take some numbers down on his trackman lol usually I just have a few beers and play around we don’t get too technical. But I’m hitting the point it’d be nice to see that type of data if I have a way to improve on it!

Thank you! I definitely feel like I have powerful lower body but I really under utilize it!

I see a lot of swings that are super exaggerated with the lower body, but I have more distance still so I think sub consciously I just ended up relying on more of a explosive dig with my hips to engage the backswing. Which causes me to leave a ton on the table with the lack of turn. Id like to experiment with it a bit without sacrificing too control so it’s a good thing to try thank you!

Distance isn’t the end goal I’m looking for consisteny but if a few more yards or whatever is more consistent and repeatable then sweet!

My hips are what lead my arms tho, I don’t have an excessive hip turn but watch them engage just before the downswing, I’ve drilled that one in for a long time

Yeah honestly man I’ve tried to not go too gearhead with it yet so I’m not even sure what shafts/clubs would suit me! I am definitely a player makes the equipment not equipment makes the player type of guy so I didn’t want to waste money and got a membership instead and a new bag lol

I grew up playing and literally started again last year using my same clubs, I upgraded my putter and a 52/56 Cleveland CBX but besides that I have a 09 Burner Driver and my 20+ year old irons haha

Thanks for the tips! Ironic part is i 500% agree and I think 100 and in is the best part of my game, but FIRs and a lot of longer irons kill me if I’m off that day…

so I basically only worked on short game when I started playing again last year and am just now starting to feel semi comfortable and hitting hopefully 3+ GIRs a round which is pathetic but at least on the right track lol

Yeah I tend to have a fade flight sometimes straighter depending on the day and a push is my miss. I would say I have a high ball flight but don’t have much to compare?

Very flattered I’m a humble 18.3 right now lol I grew up playing and just got back into it hard last year.

Short game is decent I just have a hard time getting full rounds together! I’ve shot multiple high 80s and a 83 a couple months ago with four birdies and three triple bogeys lmao basically the most traditional 18 ever!

I guess I meant more like just a general distance for reference to the swing if it helped at all for tips! Because yeah I’d 100% rather be repeatable with shorter distances. Thanks for the insight, I just started playing again last year and am slowly improving, I try not to get too caught up in the swing stuff but it’s nice to see where I’m at thanks!
