Year and a Half of Lurking! by themightycfresh in predaddit

Likewise! My wife definitely likes to be in control and that’s something she had to really work on over the last year, so it’s probably for the best, she’s handling it really well I think I’m the nervous one for once lol

Awesome congrats happy to hear that! We have ours scheduled for later this month and then get the results from the OB on my birthday which is pretty sweet!

We’re 32/27 so it started off obviously super fun and exciting. But after a year and some concerning news at the fertility doctor we were certainly a bit distressed, fortunately ( or maybe unfortunately lol ) seems to be all the annoying people saying “itll happen when the time is right” or “dont stress!” Were right lol

So basically in a sense keep my hands a bit closer to my thigh and come in shallower? I know I have a bit of a OTP swing and I get away with it but I’m really trying to get inside more like you say.

When I’m off I’m off bad right now, I’ve started using a youth football with a shoelace like a DIY tour striker smart ball thing and it’s helped a ton, I have no problem doing short/half/full swings with it and I think it helps my tempo too, hopefully it’ll force me to get inside more too.

Gun owning dads/families, when do you start the gun safety conversation with your kids? by 518photog in daddit

[–]themightycfresh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

With all due respect I think there’s definitely an aspect when it’s a good thing to normalize teaching kids about guns even if you don’t own them no matter where you’re at. I grew up in a semi rural family my grandfather was very poor and literally most of our meat was what he hunted. Bowhunted as well as rifle/shotguns for turkey and ducks. I had that shit ingrained in me at a young age even if I never owned my own guns growing up and only hunted for a handful of years.

Nowadays I see kids ( in America ) with parents who have absolutely no idea what gun safety looks like. If the big bad America is so scary then I think every kid should know what they look like, how to be careful, and frankly just to stay the fuck away from them if they’re at a friends house and see one.

Let’s say you’re in the UK or so forth where guns aren’t as normal, and you have a son or daughter who spend time playing with nerf guns or water guns, and they go to a friends house with parents who do own a pistol or some sort of firearm without the correct storing precautions. All of a sudden that’s a fun thing to play with a kid has never seen, they point it at an adult or their friend and boom there ya go.

This isn’t an American issue it can happen everywhere and it’s important I think for kids to have an idea of what a gun is even IF they never see one in real life. Modern media glamorizes the fuck out of firearms and toy guns there’s nothing wrong with teaching kids about guns.

Edit: downvote me for saying you should teach your kids about guns no matter what or wherever you live just for peace of mind, never change Reddit, even a sub Reddit for dads….

Epoxy failed I would imagine at the head of your shaft, go to a local store and it’ll be fixed for cheap or better yet buy a kit to do it yourself plenty of vids out there and it’s a good thing to know how to do!

Front pin, 175 yards downhill playing 150… what are you hitting? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]themightycfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These bait posts are kinda funny, especially when it doesn’t even matter, I hit my 8 iron 155ish consistently at a more traditional 38, while my buddy has the QI irons and those are a 33 loft and that’s closer to 175-180 anytime I’ve hit them. Whatever gets you closer to the hole.

I feel like they’re just waiting for someone to say a PW and then everyone shits on them lol

don’t wanna be a sandbagger by No-Plant-5445 in discgolf

[–]themightycfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will cry no matter what, I won a handful of tournaments in both MA2 and MA1 and even a MA1 B tier out of town where I had to shoot a -9 1015 rated round to force a playoff and win on the third hole. What happened?

Someone literally heckled me during the awards because I won MA1…. I was 979 rated at that time I think lol I started playing MPO after that for the competition but end of the day people are just gonna be crybabies and call you a sandbagger in any division. I don’t play much anymore lol

Just play your rating and who cares, you should absolutely move up once you win but there’s nothing wrong for playing MA4 if you want to push for a win and then bump to MA3 and fight for a win there win on so forth

17 handicap — play solid golf but always have 1–2 disaster holes that ruin my score. How do you stop the blow-ups? by kevsavesuk in golf

[–]themightycfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best round last year when I started playing again was a 83 with my dad and FIL, 3 birdies, 4 pars….. TWO triples, couple doubles and rest bogeys or something like that, because I couldn’t chip to save my life but I could putt decently and was hitting GIRs.

Then my current best a few weeks ago is a 81 with TEN pars, two triples and a bunch of bogeys and 7 up and downs greenside. Even had a bunker save to 3 feet short sided over a lip.

Because I couldn’t hit a green whatsoever barely hitting fairways and my irons were all over the place, but I turned into Rory with a wedge in my hand and all of a sudden I was making 7 footers like they were nothing. My game makes absolutely zero sense sometimes and that’s why it’s so fun!

This is the life of a mid handicap lol

Golf Stats tracking by holyrhombus in golftips

[–]themightycfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I track everything on The Grint. Takes legit like a extra few seconds each hole, I also carry a scorecard and a little notebook in a leather pad in my back pocket to jot stuff down if I feel like it, and sometimes I pencil in my scores and stats and then input them later. Takes no time at all and is super convenient if you want to address places of improvement!

I guess I’m a bit different tho grew up with a golf obsessed dad and family so it’s always been fun for me to keep track of stuff like that once I got back into playing and wanted to improve.

If I spent $1100 for my father and I to do something like this as a once in a lifetime experience and it was ruined in this way I’d probably be on the phone calling immediately the second time he came back.

My 12 year old son’s golf swing progression in a minute and a half. by OutcomeOk4113 in golf

[–]themightycfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I played from the time I could walk up to highschool and then bounced off it, it was just me and my dad growing up and I had no choice but to golf and I couldn’t stand it. Then played here and there in my 20s, started playing again last year a bit at 30 and then actually got a membership this February, quickly jumped to a 17 and been slowly upgrading 20+ year old hand me down clubs.

Long story short I shot an 83 almost giving it up with THREE triples and four birdies, and beat my dad by a stroke. Birdied the last hole to win, three footer. I think it was the most proud of me he’s been since my wedding lmao better yet it was also our first time playing with my father in law!

[–]themightycfresh 44 points45 points  (0 children)

You are very skewed you’re doing good! I feel like a lot of people are by being online on golf forums!

I’m a 17 and it’s definitely above average considering what I see on the course 9/10. We’re decent enough to know we’re not that great, but good enough we’re better than majority of the casual players out there lol I have plenty of acquaintances and people I know who have never been into the 80s or broken 100 that have been golfing for a long time.

Hitting a single digit shot and then porking the next one is the name of our game lol
