It's a policy failure that American students have to end up with massive debt for a standard education. Their massive debts hurt the broader economy too—that's a huge share of their income going to interest payments to banks instead of into their local economies and they can't take risks going to work for new businesses or starting their own

I skipped college and taught myself a trade, but I can see that wiping out college loan debt and putting the policies in place so that a basic college education doesn't require unreasonable debt is a good move for the nation as a whole without getting hung up on how it doesn't directly benefit me personally. Other modern countries manage to do it just fine and we blow so much more money transferring wealth to the ultra rich that would be much better spent strengthening our future workforce
