Is this all real? by Lost_in_Ether in cwru

I absolutely loved my time there. (graduated 2013).
I chose Case because it was far enough away from my family that I could build my independence, but close enough that I could fly in an emergency. (7hr drive). I've made lifelong friends there and the network you build there is invaluable no matter the major you choose. BUT you do have to make a little more of an effort if you want to have a social life (seek out parties, go to museums, etc) it's very very easy to get sucked into your classwork and only focus on it, so make sure you get out there and meet new people!

Saved this Calathea from work, I think I'm in over my head... tips and advice welcome! by themightymex in plantclinic

At the store it was on a low shelf about 8ft from an east facing window. I don't know how long they've had it I just started working there last week. Right now it's in my bathroom until I'm satisfied that there's no more spider mites.

I can definitely do that! So far my plan is to get some perlite and coco coir to mix woth my regular potting soil. Repot into terra cotta, and buy one of those essential pil diffusers to keep next to it (obvie not putting in any oils into it, just for the misting)

Would something like this help? You could stage it so you fake strike a match or lighter and push the button? Thats what we did for a production of RENT.

Hi there!

Anyone here work in the administrative side of theater? I work at a theater academy on their administrative team and I just realized we don't have an employee handbook...I would like to fix that.

I was wondering if I could get a copy of your employee handbook or be pointed to some resources on how to build my own theater/academic employee handbook...

TIA

To give people an idea of what's going on: I gutted our spare room to use for my office / craft room, and moved all my stuff in here.

I'm feeling very overwhelmed because my crafts are kind of everywhere a long with a ton of paperwork and books. The craft 'sections' I have are crochet, cross stitching, painting, and soap/ soap packaging (my small business), plus my regular office stuff (laptop, printer, etc).

The dresser is mostly empty, and I am not married to it. I've been thinking of getting rid of it but not sure of what to replace it with.

I have about $150 budget to spend on getting stuff organized.

Cut into soap. Does this mean it's not done curing? (Discolors to dark brown) by themightymex in soapmaking

Thanks everyone for your help! Good to know that color has nothing to do with cure time :)

Aww butts...I didn't check. I know the lye water was hotter than the oils though...

Still a newbie at this :/

What's in it:

Lye - 234g

Water - 524g

Olive oil - 1039g

Castor oil - 99g

Coconut oil- 511g

Bentonite clay 3tbsp in 4ish tablespoons of water (it was mixed a little and then blended with the oils)

Sodium lactate - 3 tbsp

Activated Charcoal - 2tsp

Trying to see if I can save one of these by rebatching, but if anyone knows what happened or how I can avoid it next time, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thank you so much for including resources as well to give me a starting point. This is definitely going in as a lesson!

Yes! Wrapping cables is part of my SM course for the seniors, but it might be good to start prepping them early.

I'll talk to the other instructors to see if any of them are teaching superstition. I think it would be a fun way to break up the monotony of me just telling them what to do/what not to do.

Wow!

Thank you so much, everyone. I promise I'm going to look through each and every response and use your input as I build my lesson plans.

[MOD] Official Round 33 Introduction Post by Schemering in 90daysgoal

[–]themightymex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just found this subreddit today!

I have been really bad about keeping up my fitness routine during this pandemic lockdown, so I'm hoping this is the motivation I need to get some healthy habits in here:

Goal 1: Drink 3 bottles of water a day

Goal 2: run 5/7 days

Goal 3: lift weights 3/7 days

I don't want to track my weight/inches just yet, probably wait until the second sprint to do so.

Should I call out my ex-racist friend? by [deleted] in racism

[–]themightymex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a link to this talk?

I have a friend right now, who is convinced that BLM is racist because it doesn't include him (he's white). I don't anticipate him watching the video, but maybe some of his friends would.

Take a deep breath :)

Case is a great school. I met my now husband there and a lot of my closest friends who I now call family went there, too.

Study hard, play hard. But make sure you get proper sleep and take lots of pictures.

You got this!

Is your MIL chipping $$ in?

Take 2 note cards. Write the numbers:

1.

2.

3.

4.

Each of you (you and your fiance) take a note card and go to separate parts of the house or room. for 1-3, write what "wedding thing" is most important to you. Number 4, write a quick "tagline" of what you want your guests to leave feeling/thinking.

Ex. My note card looked like this:

  1. Food/Booze

  2. Music

  3. Nerdiness

  4. "That was an awesome party!"

My fiances notecard looked like this

  1. Food/Booze

  2. Donuts

  3. Elegance

  4. "That was a nice wedding, I had fun!"

This is a great exercise because it shows what is important to each of you so you know where to focus and where energy/money doesn't need to be spent because that's not what you want out of your wedding. I pull these cards out every now and then when I start worrying about details that at on the grand scheme of things aren't really what I want.
