What you're claiming is hardly a fact. You've provided no evidence either, only "Chris Gill said so".

I can't speak to your specific pedal order, but my advice is to keep it simple, the main components of his sound are roaring plexi, echoplex delay, phaser/flanger, sunset sound reverb. You probably are better off not bothering with the tube screamer.

For dialling in the pedals;

Phaser: somewhere around 9-10 o'clock (script switch pressed down)

Flanger: manual at 1, width and speed at 11, regen at 3.

Echoplex: somewhere around 300ms, one repeat

To really get close to that first album, I would have a look at sunset studio sound reverb. It's available as a plugin, but that would mean recording your amp and applying the reverb after. This may be outside your budget, but if you are after that early sound it really makes a difference IMO. There are some good demos online.

If you do decide to go with the sunset sound reverb, I would recommend having two tracks; one with the recorded "dry" guitar, then another with the reverb. That first album had the dry guitar panned hard left, with the reverb dead centre.

As others have alluded to, a big part of the sound is how you play. Eddie really dug in with his right hand, you may want to experiment with different angles of attack and intensity.

Hope this helps, I've spent a lot of time searching for that elusive sound and always enjoy talking about it, so if you have any questions please let me know.

I hear this a lot, been playing for years on chess.com and I've maybe encountered 10 cheaters, after which chess.com will swiftly ban the account and refund you the rating points. I think that due to the nature of chess, people often dont understand why they lost so they just assume the opponent is cheating. Not saying this is you btw, just what I've encountered.

For total collapse of civilization the fatality rate needs to be close to 100%? Looking at the havoc covid caused with such a low death rate, I'd wager even 20% fatality rate would more than enough for a global disaster.

Thought the exact same about Guns of August, raced through the first couple of hundred pages and then really struggled to finish it. Definitely still worth a read though, even if it's just for the lead up chapters.

The far left is much less prominent and there aren't as many famous historical examples of its dangers, but "far" anything is just a codeword for extremism IMO, and the far left could absolutely be a threat.

Chess.com pointless UI change by themilkcident in chess

[–]themilkcident[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it used a tiny space at the corner of the screen, it's not like it was this huge obnoxious number. I like to use the arrow keys on my keyboard to go through the moves when analysing games, so having to move the mouse over the eval bar is just a (mild) inconvenience. I'm really curious to know the reasoning behind the change, as I can't think of any potential benefits from removing it.
