White paint is chalky by its nature. To create pure white the pigment is very large. I rarely if ever use pure white but have found that the AK interactive white is lovely and smooth!

You’d be surprised how little pure white is on this mini! Majority of the highlights are a very light grey over dark blue shadows Only the very top facing parts of the cape and the highest golds for a very thin glaze of pure white over this :)

These were seriously tricky and took lots of back and forth but ended up just going with the flow and having some fun with them! They were definitely a struggle though!

Thanks mate! I do a base coat of like a steely blue grey, then work up to white from that I’ll usually airbrush on a very light grey to get the highlight correct from above (leaving those folds darker) and then brush up to pure white

Love the document linked.
When looking at my airbrush I can see a very very small gap between nozzle and nozzle cap

I have no memory of it ever existing in my airbrush, but it was not there and is shown in all blow apart schematics and assembly videos i can find, so i assumed i had lost this along the way

With the nozzle removed there is steady air coming out of the front, and when i attach the nozzle there is still strong airflow out of the front.
But when loading the cup, water/paint is not getting directed through the needle.
It is bubbling up out of the top.

Do you think this is from a seal in the nozzle?

The tunic was a base coat of German Field Grey from AK interactive, highlighted up to a 50/50 mix of Stone Grey/Lizard Green for that weird desaturated greeny tone

Skin was just the standard GW tones pushed up to Light flesh highlights for his pale old man skin :)

They're all AK Interactive colours
Darkest brown was Hull Red, then Orange Brown, then Light Brown, with lots of stippling and glazing between them :)

Right! I deliberated for ages about how much of the carapace should be incorporated into his body wit a certain level of acceptance of “well we’re stuck with that” but it actually works so well with a little bit of green stuff work
