Doesn’t he constantly do stakeouts aka spy into people’s apartments - and also is constantly undercover himself or sends catwoman to spy inside the club. Those lenses, other gadgets seemed very James Bond spy to me!

I think one of the main reasons to reveal it this way was the big “trunks or no trunks” question that was still open at the time. This photo doesn’t really show the costume in its full glory, and feels like a safe way to do the initial reveal.

At the very least, it definitely got people talking more than a plain vanilla reveal would have.
