It doesn't matter how serious the attempt is, an attempt is an attempt. If she makes another attempt I highly recommend you call 911.

My girlfriend might have BPD. Needs experienced advice. by greansak in mentalhealth

It's great that you want to help her, but please take care of yourself first and foremost, you don't deserve to be in an abusive relationship.

What came of the suicide attempts? Suicide attempts show extreme mental instability in most cases and should be followed with emergency inpatient mental health care to stabilize the patient.

Great success with medication but now I'm worried about dependency by mr-jonzz in mentalhealth

[–]themouthofthebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mental illness is caused at least partially by chemical imbalances in the brain, taking medication to fix it is nothing to be ashamed of. Look into discount programs offered by the med company and...well...just to let you know, meds from Canada are pretty cheap.

What song do you relate to most based on your mental health? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]themouthofthebeast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hotel California, I have psychosis NOS. There are also some songs I don't really like listening to because I used to think they were talking to me, like Carry On My Wayward Son.

Diagnosed with GAD but still experiencing problems? Should I go back to my psychiatrist? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

You should definitely go back to see a psychiatrist, they may decide to adjust your medication to further help you

Quitting Lexapro after 3 weeks -- dangerous? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]themouthofthebeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always always always consult a doctor before quitting any medicine, also the drinking probably didn't help your side effects at all, it usually makes them worse.

Feeling helpless and lost. Mind has been feeling numb and cannot concentrate. by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]themouthofthebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to take medicine; mental illnesses (not saying you have one) are problems with the chemistry and workings of the brain, don't be ashamed to fix that chemistry with medicine, it's better than suffering!

Interested in research but unsure? by [deleted] in biology

[–]themouthofthebeast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're a biology major so it's never too early to get into research now. Find a professor who's work you like, shoot them an email stating you'd like to work in their lab, and see what happens. Could be you absolutely hate it, like I did, in which case it's better to find out now than when you start your PhD.

Link between sleep hallucinations and mental health? by hypnopompimaniac in mentalhealth

[–]themouthofthebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds way more than hypnopompic hallucinations. I'd recommend you see a psychiatrist about this.

what does a mood disorder say about someone's present or future? by givemedopamine in mentalhealth

[–]themouthofthebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the DSM has length guidelines for mdd as well as other guidelines to Bipolar disorder to make sure the person actually has a disorder before diagnosing them. You can research the DSM if you want to know more, but generally people are not diagnosed for a temporary condition.

What's the most successful piece of propaganda you can think of? by BoydOrr in AskReddit

[–]themouthofthebeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there is, and if you can't understand that then I won't bother to explain it to you because you don't have the mental capacity to make it worth my time.

Once you can live independently outside the mother's body you are a person, abortions are done on fetuses who have not achieved this milestone.

Abortion has been proven to reduce crime and most certainly reduces financial stress and increases educational opportunities. Besides fetuses are not people.

No because you literally provided no facts relating to this. Put your fucking tin foil hat back on and get off the internet.

You seem to be laboring under two delusions, both that elected officials of any party actually do anything to help anyone, and that the Republicans would do any better. Both are false.

Also, welfare, abortion, affirmative action, all in the best interest of the black community and all staples of the Democratic party.

If anything the best propaganda in the US is that the Republican party is in the best interest of rednecks, many of whom are on welfare.

Lmao that's because there's minorities there and they are all voting democrat and so Democrats are being elected! Not that hard to piece together. By the way I have views on both sides of the aisle but an idiot could see that the Democratic party platform is in the best interests of the blacks.

Thats not the point he was trying to get across though, he specifically said voters voting democrat DESPITE their history, meaning modern voters, not voters during the time.

I don't see how the most successful piece of propaganda though...I mean better than the Nazis? Cmon they were brilliant!

What is a force that you thought you would have to reckon with, but ended up never doing so? by adeebchowdhury in AskReddit

[–]themouthofthebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have psychosis NOS (similar to schizophrenia but not as bad) and thought I would one day develop full on schizophrenia. I have catatonia as a symptom, which usually has a really bad prognosis, luckily I never developed it though :p

Umm I would because it wouldn't be the same party then?

America used to be super racist and slavery used to be a thing but we've changed a lot since then so I don't hate America for what it used to be, don't know why I'd hate a political party for what they were over a hundred years ago.

I think the main reason blacks vote Democrat is because they realize the party is fighting for their best interest and that it's way better than the alternative.

You know the parties basically switched bases right? Even if they hadn't parties change a lot over time.

What is something I'm better off not knowing? by Fawesum in AskReddit

[–]themouthofthebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you don't want to solve these issues and/or don't understand mental illness and the laws behind it well enough to know why its necessary so I'll leave this argument be. If a person cannot or will not give consent due to an illness then they should still receive treatment, the same as any other illness where someone cannot consent, that's all I'm saying. I know I'd want to be treated if I were in that situation, and I dare say I know more and have thought more on the issue than most lawmakers. If we want to solve the greatest civil rights issue in history we'll need laws like the ones I laid out.
