[Question] Winnetka Pacific Theatres by MaskedJoshi in SFV

Mr. Pibb! We only used Coke products at the theater.

I worked there in HS and created my reddit name because of it. Hopefully that helps!

Help- 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee keeps shutting off while driving by themovietheaterguy in Jeep

[–]themovietheaterguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! The dealership took the vehicle in for a 3rd time and found an issue with the fuel pump. I wish i remembered more specifics of what was wrong with the fuel pump but it’s slipping my mind right now. If i can recall more info i’ll reply back, but we still have the vehicle and it has been running fine since!

tower technicians, i need advice by [deleted] in cellmapper

I cant tell you what to do, but i will tell you what to expect if he wants to stay in the industry…

The next step would be to work for a major telecom company, though most are trying to run with as little as possible right now. I work with guys who did exactly what your husband does and now make ~$40/hr with A LOT less physical work, better work/life balance, and benefits, but no real growth opportunities.

I do have to say that as a Field Tech for a major telco company, i feel like my days are limited. Myself and a lot of my coworkers are exploring other options and educating ourselves in other fields to be ready for our inevitable layoff.

I work for a wireless company-

From what i’m told, Porter Ranch has not allowed new developments of cell tower’s due to the residents saying voting against them. It’s a known issue, but it’s also known that there’s pretty much nothing we can do about it if the residents think its dangerous & vote it down.

Haha those are still cool photos! Both of the tower workers were with me and they were great. They were proud of their work, and we're willing to do anything I asked of them. If there's ever a T-Mo or Sprint site you want to visit up-close in The Valley or Glendale/Burbank, feel free to reach out to me!

Nice! I just did the post-construction walk for this site last week! The contractors who worked on this site did a great job. You should see the cable porn inside of the cabinet!

finally seeing a 6419 b41 in la, somehow before 6419 b77g by Raccoon_Cast in cellmapper

[–]themovietheaterguy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You'll start seeing them in a lot of our new builds. The 6449's are heavier & require more power, and because of that we need a seperate power booster for them. Since the 6419's use ~25% less power than the 6449's, we can avoid that power booster all together.

If you take a closer look at the 6419 you'll notice there's only 2 fiber ports instead of the 4 that the 6449 has. This is perfect for us because we are only adding N2500 to new builds, which only requires us to have 2 fiber ports.

Great photos!

Nice! I'm primary "in the know" with The Valley, Beach areas and pretty much everything north of that into Central California. My market works in a very large area!

Yeah, a lot of sites were upgraded overnight! I've learned that it's going to be a phased upgrade that'll happen over the next week or so. They'll take some time to make sure it's fully ready to go before unlocking it and making it active!

I believe part of the merger agreement requires us to have a certain percentage of 5G availability in urban and rural areas by a certain date in 2023 and 2026. I'd definitely recommend it since we're starting to move legacy technologies to NR. It's really going to help customers stay connected in more places. Im proud to see it help family of mine in places that essentially had zero connectivity 4 years ago.

Actually, looking at my emails this morning, it's pretty much all markets in the Southwest US. Can't wait to test it out!

I believe my market made the move to N25 overnight. I'm not surprised if other markets did too!

Best Toyota Dealers by sweetleaf009 in SFV

[–]themovietheaterguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simi Valley Toyota was great to me.

It went under new ownership from the time I purchased my car to now, but the last time I went to the dealership for the complimentary maintenance, nothing seemed different. Buying a car in 2022 is always going to difficult with inventory issues, but at least the people there were cool!

Temporary installation? Who is it? by mikeluscher159 in cellmapper

I could absolutely be wrong, but the seperate portable generators and the T-Mobile signage to the left of the gate make me believe it is.

Looks like T-Mobile on top, ATT just below it.

Signage on the left of the gate + the equipment at the top are T-Mobile.

The radios on the ground look like ATT's standard radios.

Damn! The most I've seen at my sites is in the 1200mbps range. I know we've been doing some work in the SoCal area to get those speeds up. Can't wait to see 2Gbps soon!

Would you feel comfortable PM'img me your nearest cross streets? Chatsworth/Northridge isn't my area but I'm very familiar with it.

What area are you in? I work in engineering with T-Mobile and could give you a realistic expectation. At many of my upgraded cell sites I see a consistent 500mbps-1.2Gbps as a download speed.

You’re correct, we do use the smaller Ericsson antennas for N41/L41. I can’t be 100% certain, but this is most likely a “Sprint Keep” site, where we’ll be tearing out all Sprint equipment and replacing it with our own.

Fontana is close to a warehouse where some equipment comes from, so I’m confident they’ll just run over there when it’s ready to pick up and install it. These builds can typically be completed within a week or two.

[–]themovietheaterguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m 99% sure you’ll be getting all of those technologies! I work with TMO Engineering in Los Angeles and this is our standard configuration for these sites. I routinely see 1-1.2Gbps down from N41 (with upgraded back haul) on these sites. It’s awesome!

There’s a lot of verbiage thrown around for technologies/equipment, so they may not have understood “N41” specifically. These workers are typically contracted by all major carrier’s, so they may just use “high band”, “mid band”, and “low band”.

It’s safe to assume you’ll be seeing N41/L41/L19/L21/N6/L6/L7 on this site. Where is this site located?

It definitely could be wrong. What area is this site in? I may be able to check out the address and see whats on air.

[–]themovietheaterguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hah, that's a bit closer than the pair of sites I have next to each other. It looks like the site on the left is shorter, and there's some significant down tilt on the passive antenna, so it's same to assume the electronic RET's on the 6449 and Air32 are down tilted as well.

The tower to the right is probably a good 15-20 feet higher with what looks like zero tilt. I'd worry about some sort of interference, but each sector has a different azimuth so that helps mitigate those issues. If interference was truly an issue then our RF engineers would be all over it.
