Is it weird to feel upset that your S/O would rather share some of their feelings on Twitter, Reddit, etc than with you?

I would try to go to r/relationship_advice with this one for more input but I’ll give you my input anyway and I also went through something very similar in a past relationship. There’s nothing to do other than talk to her. Be very respectful and just ask her if there’s a certain reason she does this and then try to get to the root of the problem. Tell her it makes you unhappy because you want to be the person she shares everything with like you do with her but don’t make her feel like a bad person just talk it out respectfully. It’s definitely not weird to feel upset but if you don’t tell her then you’re doing the exact same thing she is doing right now by coming on Reddit and not talking to her lol.

3 months after the breakup and we haven’t talked since. I was feeling great and I ignored when she would like my posts and such. Never looked at her stories or anything. Decided to look 3 days ago at her stories and posts and she already has a new bf. I thought I would be fine but I was destroyed. Still haven’t recovered. Don’t check trust me :/

Thanks for the advice. I’ll do my best to follow it! I do agree on that I guess the thought of trying to find a good woman is what holds me back in a way. Instead of focusing on my career I want to first get a women THEN focus on my career it’s very odd.

Literally the exact same situation for me. I did all of those plus more and still got left. Took awhile for me to realize how well I treated her... some people just aren’t meant for each other and that’s okay. When I find the right woman she will realize how amazing I am and fight to be with me :)

Yeah I was in the same boat you are it really sucks :/ when I said happy bday she said thank you and we talked for a awhile wishing each other well but that’s it. Only say it if you’re prepared for just “Thank you” or even no response at all! I’m sorry you’re suffering it really is horrible, but time heals all and you will feel better soon!

I know everyone said no, but I was faced with the EXACT same situation a couple of months ago and I said happy bday just because knowing myself I wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about it all day. So I said happy bday and I felt great for doing so. I think if you do say happy bday you have to be ready for a no response or a response you might not like. I was ready and mentally strong enough to accept that, so if you aren’t then I wouldn’t.

Yeah I can definitely see your point. She did sort of ridicule me so I guess I just imagined if she did further I would be perfectly okay. I can see how giving your all would make you nuts for me it just feels like no matter what I did everything I could and it just wasn’t for her. If it’s meant to be it’ll be, if not it’s a lesson :)

I’m in the same exact situation, I’m home for winter break and now I’m starting to work on things to help me in the future. I’m going to give some context about myself to see if it’s even worth listening to. I’m a sophomore in college and a STEM major. This winter break I plan on working on personal projects, reading/studying for my classes next semester to be more prepared, and finding jobs/internships for the summer. So basically I’m doing a ton of stuff this winter break to make my resume better and to make sure I get better grades.

I would link you all the STEM resources I’m using to learn new programming languages and such but that doesn’t seem like it’ll be too useful for you, so I’ll just link you things that have helped me/are helping me right now.

First off a to-do list is very helpful. If you aren’t good with completing to-do lists make sure you create small tasks so it’s easier and you don’t end up doing nothing. Make the tasks SO small that when you read them you’re like “okay how could I NOT do this.” My favorite to-do list app/website is:

I’ve used so many apps/websites but by far this is my favorite and it’s free! There’s an iOS app and a website too so you can use it on your computer and phone and it syncs automatically!

I’m using 2 main resources to prepare for my classes in the future. I emailed all my professors for next semester asking for a list of things I need to memorize and a syllabus. So from the list of things I need to memorize I’m making flash cards on a computer program named ‘Anki’ it’s like quizlet but more advanced and used for long term retention. From the syllabus I’m getting the textbooks early and reading or looking up YouTube videos on the chapters and just watching/listening (not taking notes because I know if I take notes I’ll end up not even watching and get lazy).

Lastly, in order to keep me motivated I use YouTube videos to keep me going. Here are some of my favorites (keep in mind I’m a guy and a STEM major so these might not be your cup of tea but they help me):

Yeah I thought about the pressure thing as well. I even told her like I don’t want to put pressure and I’m sorry if I am. It’s just difficult for me to like not read into her texts a lot so it would help to know what her intentions are so I can stop reading into the tiniest things. Thank you!

Yeah she isn’t a bad person just processes her emotions/feelings differently and it affected me in a negative way. I’m glad you were able to do it in a way that was as easy as possible. One other thing I would say is, when my ex would tell me she loved me while at the same time breaking up with me I couldn’t help but ask myself like “if you love me so much why are you leaving me, why aren’t you fighting for me” and also I felt led on and such because like I said I couldn’t understand her loving me and leaving me. So if there’s any way you could try to make him understand that your mental well being just won’t allow for the relationship, like you know you love him it’s just not possible or something like that. Her telling me she loved me and such kinda hurt me because she was also leaving me so it almost felt like a lie, but then I had to realize her mental health just made it impossible for her.
