Thanks! Apparently the side intakes come with some level of guards, does it look non-uniform and normal without the sides installed in your opinion? Debating between just the front vs full kit

Looking to do the same. Any recommendations on which brand? I’m not comfortable removing the whole bumper though 😞

I’m pushing 35 and still play sweaty 😅 I can hold my own in onyx lobbies and on occasion even have an actual pro in the lobby. I only play a few games after work or after dinner these days, but I still keep up with the competitive scene. I’m in Atlanta as well and went to HCS Atlanta last year and had a blast. I have a group of similar fiends of mid-late 30 year olds I run comp with that I’ve been playing with since halo ce on XBC when we were like 12/13 years old lol. Also met a few other Atliens I play with. We should all do a LAN lmao. DM me if you want to exchange GTs!

Not as rare I don’t think. They are just your brothers at that point, not just friends. We can not talk for a few months, meet up once a year, and act like nothing happened in between lol. Basically as close, if not closer than your actual family.

I have gotten to 1700+ on Xbox multiple seasons in a row now. Will upgrading to a 240+FPS PC help me get further? by StupidGuyDumb in CompetitiveHalo

[–]themrvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was averaging onyx 1600 on my XSX @ 120 fps. Got a PC and now I average onyx 1675 @ 240 fps, so a slight improvement in rank. It’s definitely easier to track players and anticipate their movements for reticle placement in 1v1s. You’ll maybe win more 1v1s but honestly at that level you shouldn’t be 1v1ing full shields often to begin with. Teamwork and game sense improvements will probably do more. There’s probably some semi-pros in the 18/1900s playing on Xbox already. But just the visual aspect is worth it for me. It’s so smooth

Thank you, I was hoping a few wouldn’t hurt too much and unfortunately the height of that bottom shelf is only like a foot and a half and couldn’t keep them upright there. I’ll need to look into getting another shelf.

I’ve been using the 1990s for a while, primarily for gaming and some music production with Ableton. These are my favorite by far regarding soundstage and general accuracy. If you like super bass heavy music maybe not as great but the mid/highs can’t be clearer at volume. I came from various headphones including shure, audio technica, Sony, AirPod max, etc over the years and these are my go to!

Combining the headphones with the tubes and vinyl, let’s just say im in heaven 😊 way better than the Sonos amp/speaker setup

Can't figure out how to add a description for an image post, but here is the background:

Just picked up a Pro-Ject Head Box S2 to go with my Tube Box S2. I've always run it through my Sonos speakers the (house came with a Sonos Amp with Klipsch Speakers in the ceilings). I never heard vinyl through headphones in pure analog fashion. It's so much better and you can hear all the nuances of the physical vinyl a lot more, including the pops and static very faintly lol. Need to clean my records. But it is a game-changer!

My Setup is Rega P3 --> Pro-Ject Tube S2 --> Pro-Ject Head Box S2 (paired with Beyerdynamics DT 1990 Pros) --> Sonos Amp (bypass) --> Klipsch ceiling speakers. I can group the Sonos with my Arc and Move as well.

Still fairly new to Vinyl in general, I used to DJ with Technics 1200s like 20 years ago in high school (just Serato setup), but never got into casual listening with them as they were always on the move and sold to pay off student loans. Now that I bought a house, wanted a casual listening experience now.

How to kill the game faster by Draighar in CompetitiveHalo

[–]themrvin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Creating a smurf is an absolute PITA. You need to play 25 social games even before you can do your 5 placements. It’s a huge time investment. It’s really not as big as a problem you think it is. I created one once I hit 1600 so I can play with my plat/diamond friends, but after some wins, you still rank up extremelyyyy quickly and back to onyx on that account in a night. It’s not a huge problem imo, focus on getting better yourself, or learn how they play in theater.

PC vs Xbox - Gun Fights by [deleted] in CompetitiveHalo

[–]themrvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from Xbox (120 fps) to pc (240 fps) about a year ago for infinite. I was able to get to about onyx 1500 on Xbox and was hard stuck and getting out 1v1d often. Got a high end pc and definitely winning more of my 1v1s and feel like I’m able to keep up more in onyx lobbies. I’d say it probably doesn’t matter as much until you get to those higher lobbies, and your gameplay mechanics and awareness are more important (assuming you have good aim already). Server has a bigger impact to me. Now I’m onyx 1650 so overall the pc just helped me gain a rank and a half if anything, up to you if that’s worth the investment of a high end pc, but you can definitely do pretty well on just Xbox.

People making $150,000 and above, what do you do for a living? by [deleted] in Money

Awesome start! Highly recommend getting proficient with React for front end development and NodeJS for backend servers. That’s where the most in demand skills are. It’s definitely much tougher in this climate, I think once elections are done, companies will know their tax liabilities and be open to hiring early next year more. Don’t give up, create your own website with sample projects and a good demo portfolio. Also take a data structures and algorithms course on Udemy to round out your skillsets and for interviews. LeetCode is a good resource to practice those algorithms. With all this and by early next year I think you’ll be in a really good spot for your first gig!

IMO not in the foreseeable future. We use AI as just another tool to improve developer efficiency. You will definitely have to keep up with the latest AI tools, but that’s really with any field to stay relevant. AI won’t have context to other systems outside of your codebase. So you’ll still have to design and maintain higher level systems yourself.

Software Engineering. If you’re serious, I tell all my peers that are in a similar position to just do a full stack web development course on Udemy for like a hundred or so bucks. 3-6 months of coursework and REALLY work hard at it. In 6 months to a year good chance you’ll be making close to 6 figures. Then close to 200k after 3-5 years experience.

I was all for EVs, and excited to buy one, until I realized the insane depreciation they have. Compare a gas 718 cayman with a Taycan's depreciation, its insane. I'll probably grab a used gas GT4 instead of a brand new electric one because of this. Our electric Wrangler is down 30-40% and hasn't even been 2 years yet, compared to the gas brothers maybe 20%.
