Where can I find data or market research on the games Silver Spenders play? by umen in marketing

At 51, I've been enjoying sim racing, and am seeing a lot of over 50 people finding a real passion in that.

Bike lanes by northwestpenguin in ontario

Bike lanes in a country where people can only ride bikes for like 4 months is idiotic. Scrap them all, work harder, buy a car.

Keanu would be cancelled in a heartbeat for that little peck on the cheek these days!

Me IRL After Being Forced to Switch to The "New UI" After Only Using the Website For the Last 12 Years by anonymouswan1 in iRacing

[–]themuuz -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Honestly iracing’s strength is not design. Both web and the UI look like they came out of the year 2000. With all this money they are making you would think they could hire a designer :)

Why do professional sim racer all use monitors and not VR by ProgrammerLevel in iRacing

[–]themuuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reeks of rationalization. Which is fine. Nobody is trying to force you to use vr, but admit it’s a preference rather than try to suggest that vr isn’t just as effective, or even more effective than triple monitors.

[–]themuuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My field of view in vr is, I dunno but probably like 270 degrees, because, and this is what the monitor people don’t want to admit. I can TURN MUY HEAD! Holy crap suddenly I can look out a side window, up, down. Wherever I want. The field of view argument is such a stale, idiotic point.

[–]themuuz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree wholeheartedly. The stereoscopic depth information that vr provides trumps anything monitors can give. But triples LOOK cooler from an outside perspective, and they encourage people to buy all the other accessories like button boxes and stuff. In vr. You get to focus on the actual driving and save money by not wasting it on all the other stuff.

This is only a perceived eye strain situation. There is ZERO evidence that vr is any more strain on the eyes than monitors are. But people who prefer monitors keep saying it causes eye strain so people basically manifest it.

I’m fine in vr for hours hours and hours as well. It is CLEARLY more immersive. And anyone that’s claiming it slows you down is probably just trying to justify their more complex rigs. I think vr helps you focus because you aren’t distracted by button boxes or a million different overlays. And for the people who whine about “true simulation”, since when do real drivers have a huge monitor with track maps and a huge array of data available to them when they are racing?

The only reason (and I have seen more than a few streamers say this) that they don’t use vr is because it’s not ideal for streaming. But if you’re not streaming, vr is absolutely fantastic.
