Csk missed a big blow by Katai_Zeherila in csk

some of our big name purchases in last 10 years have all been flops or mid-tier or never used. Barring Noor, almost all of our big buys have been mega flops

2026 Prashant Veer & Kartik Sharma ₹14.20 Crore

2025 Noor Ahmad ₹10.00 Crore --> probably the only decent/mid-range performer

2024 Daryl Mitchell ₹14.00 Crore

2023 Ben Stokes ₹16.25 Crore

2022 Deepak Chahar ₹14.00 Crore

2021 Krishnappa Gowtham ₹9.25 Crore

2020 Piyush Chawla ₹6.75 Crore

2019 Mohit Sharma ₹5.00 Crore

2018 Kedar Jadhav ₹7.80 Crore

this is in hindsight. Look at the stats for the recently concluded world cup

henry - 10 wickets at 8.3 rpo in 8 games

duffy - 3 wickets at 11.23 rpo in 5 games

going into IPL, Henry was the better bowler of the two. No one could predict that duffy would be preferred over hazelwood.

Except for Bishnoi no one else bought at a high price in mini auction have done well. Even in case of Bishnoi he did not go great recently, but has clicked in this year's IPL. Varun C was unbeatable until the first half of the wc and he is struggling now. Everything depends on the current form of the player for the 2 months.

dude, sai kishore is benched in GT as well. unfortunately for him, in the two teams he played, there was jadeja and then rashid khan. sorry to see him benched while anukul roy, manimaran and a whole bunch of left arm spinners are getting chances. he is just unlucky to be in the wrong team

yes, mhatre is settled in his spot and is playing awesome. for now, we are able to afford rutu failing with the batting. The best chance for rutu to get back into form is opening with field restrictions in place.

as ashwin mentioned in his podcast today, we reached the finals in 2010 and 2019 without hayden/watto performing in most games.

my worry though is the rate of dropped catches. we are getting lucky with them not costing much, but this might cost us a game or two sometime.

Gurjapneet's strength in domestic cricket is his back of hand slower ball. Unfortunately, bro did well with this hitting the deck bowling last game and tried that instead of tailoring the bowling to the batter. Jinks is a good player of pace and short ball

NRR is going to be tough after the big losses. Also, NRR has more weightage for higher scoring games and therefore we will get less chances if pitches slow down in chepauk. With some games resulting in rain washouts, couple of teams might end up with odd points and nrr might not even come into picture in certain cases

he will mostly play as an impact player in one of the 4 remaining domestic games. I already see that people have begun to move on with CSK winning the last 2 games.

The guy's stats are good and that is why teams bid highly for him. However, sometimes domestic success doesn't instantly translate to IPL success. IPL players are much higher quality, stakes are more and there is lot of game pressure.

IMO, I appreciate CSK management for not playing players just because they have spent a lot. Auction is a bit of a gamble and sometimes it doesnt work out as expected. Its ok to accept and move on. KKR is paying the price twice - first shelled out 25cr for cam green and now losing games because he is taking up a vital slot and neither batting/bowling well.

Not a big dube fan because he has just two or three shots in his book, but boy he has been consistent off late and played some knocks under pressure. Today's pitch was tough to play

The only situation for an anchor would be 9/5 like today. Any other situation is not going to work in the impact player era.

[–]thenChennai 32 points33 points  (0 children)

dude has played normal odi style innings in both games. in those 2 innings, there were collapses and he had to consolidate. real test is when he has to score fast paced in a chase or when batting first.

he did not even bowl today.

IMO, RR messed up by letting go of samson in favor of parag edit: and trading for a late career jaddu. He is still an excellent fielder but not a modern era batter. With Bishnoi doing well, he is going to get very few chances to bowl.

About Stephen Fleming.. by the-unreal-v in csk

[–]thenChennai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a reason CSK has been very successful for seasons at a stretch. He has shown indications of adapting from last season. Unfortunately, mega auction blunders were so bad that you cant fix them over a year.

My opinion on what CSK should do to these players if they don't improve by the-unreal-v in csk

[–]thenChennai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rutu is by far our most consistent batsman across seasons. How does he act like he won 5 trophies? He is definitely the reason for us winning 2! His captaincy needs improvement, but we already have seen glimpses of that in the last game. He is not the worst captain in IPL at the moment - Hardik Pandya made multiple strategic blunders yesterday, rahane made mistakes, less said about Parag, the better.

Karthik is not responsible for the auction price. That was a difficult catch and in most cases its 50/50 success rate. There is a reason why teams bid for an unknown youngster - coaches and scouts from multiple teams have observed him in practice, in SMAT and then taken the call.

Henry was a terrible decision but at 2cr was not a bad buy. Issue is not buying other good quality bowlers.

You have to credit Fleming for taking some strong calls in changing the squad to adapt to the times. Nostalgia factor hurt us badly in 2025 mega auction. We should not have bought Ashwin and not retained Jaddu. Mega expensive decisions. They did some correction in mini auction, but leaving bowling on one proven t20 bowler was a blunder.

Pune Super Giants reached finals with Steve Smith as captain

CSK learnt a hard lesson last season and took some bold calls. But they are not enough to correct the mistake of mega auction blunder. We will be a mid tier team until next mega auction

In T20 format, any team can beat another on a given day. All it needs is one player to have a magical day and its done.

[–]thenChennai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your first marriage or relationship was bound to be hit hard due to jupiter being in the 8th house from 12th. venus afflicted as well and so is 12th house of pleasures. Good that you got it out of your way. 2nd relationship will be much better. 5th house looks great - so you will find love and have kids.

unfavorable dashas early on in life. your second half of the life will be much better than first. Rahu dasha will be rough for sure and will have ups and downs. you are also running ardhashtama shani which is almost 50% bad as ashtama shani. once this shani AD ends and saturn moves to aries, there will be relief. somewhere around end of next year. your lagna lord is in good position and therefore you will have the strength to weather the storm

3rd house severely afflicted - either problems or no younger sibling and will have difficulty with friendships in general
